hey mtime... did this just start happening?? mine hasnt worked for the last 4-5 days I just uninstalled it, tried to re-install a different version of it... still no go
I just hooked up a new computer... its back...... i wonder if Google disabled my pagerank!!! the disabling of the pagerank also disabled all of my backlink Spy programs Ill keep you guys posted if it happens on this comp too!
i bet you also got a new ip address too. sending to many queries though toolbars and programs will ban your ip address.
It really sucks, because I love this SEO spyglass... it helps me snatch the High PR backlinks from competitors...... and learn a ton I think im going to get banned on this computer as well Should I use a proxy when using the program??
My 2 cents... Firstly, can't but agree that SEO Spyglass is just a great tool that helps many webmasters and SEO experts. I use it from the very first version, it works great for me. However, just as it was said here before, Google may *frown* when it sees requests are coming to his servers too frequently (it doesn't matter if these are search servers, PR servers, or any other server.) From what I've learned, it might block you from processing requests for a couple of hours, and in different situations they use different block types: - by browser type and ID (i.e. UserAgent) - by checking your cookies - even by IP As I know, SEO Spy Glass lets you rotating UserAgents, it supports cookies correctly, and you can use proxy servers to hide your IP (plus it lets you using some other search safety techniques like human emulation or something like that), so if you use it correctly, you shouldn't have this problems - just spend 2 minutes to setup it correctly. The MOST important thing is that it won't block you forever (it usually takes from 15 minutes to 2 hours - after that time you'll be unblocked), and the second thing is that it can't hurt you rankings at all (assuming you're using Spyglass, and not some kind of a server-based script), because it's just impossible to find any dependencies between your desktop computer and your server - no matter what sites you're checking with SEO Spyglass. Just as I said before, this can happen, but you shouldn't worry Remember: Google DOESN'T DISABLE your PageRank as you said or whatever - it just temporarily stops processing your queries because you're making these queries too frequently (it's not the number of queries that matters - it's the numbet of queries in some short period of time.) As soon as you stop making too frequent queries, it stops blocking you, and you get all your PR values back again in SEO SpyGlass and in Google ToolBar. One more tip with SEO SpyGlass is too collect data partially: i.e. collect only backlinks when creating a new project (use the "Use expert options" check-box for that), and then select, say, 200-300 records, and click "Update" to collect PageRanks and other data. Then in 5-10 seconds update data for the next 200 records, etc. This way you'll stay safe, because you won't be making too many queries in a too short period of time. To put it shortly: it's preferable to use proxies, but once again: if you don't use any proxies, the only bad thing you may experience is that you'll be temporarily unavailable to get results for Google servers. It doesn't hurt your SEO efforts or rankings. BTW, if you're using DHCP, you can simply disconnect from the Inernet, and then make a new connection - thus you'll get a new IP, and will be able to contimue getting all Google's data.
Yep they will turn off the pr checker but it comes back.. some sort of spam/bot prevention has happend to me when using certain tools.l
No problem for me. It works good. I think you have been forced by google to depend on some other PR checking tool...
Another scary thing... do you think Google will penalize you for using such a thing? The same IP address doing backlink checks, and then the same IP address logging into (or always logged in) to Google Account
Google toolbar is working fine for me. I am using Firefox. Never had such problem. May be you need to uninstall Spyglass and see if your problem gets solved?
After doing some google, I think the problem will be; 1. Large requests of pagerank using some software (seo, pagerank checking softwares etc.) 2. Firewall
