My google ranking just tanked due to my hosting company.

I have a website that slowly moved up on google was recently ranked very well for all my relevent keywords on google, even number 1 for some important ones....

But recently my hosting company was uploading all of its older sites to a new server and and temporarily assigned my site a test.mywebsite.hosting.com
domain while it was being changed (for about 24-48 hrs). Since then my google ranking tanked. Losing all of my rankings almost completely.
I am shocked!! All the hard work and now back to ground zero? I am especially ticked at my hosting company. Did they not realize that this would affect my rankings? I was not given any notice beforehand and if I was I would of preferred the site just being down or to transferr to another server.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone know if my rankings should climb back to the previous position, now that everything is back to normal (since the website is established and nothing has changed)???
    Any reccomendations??

i think that your google ranking will be back soon.

if your web site is working now, you have to wait google to give your serp back

thats reassuring. I will let you know if and when my google rankings return. Yahoo and MSN were not affected. Does any one know how long it usually takes for Google to update?

If the other site has gone your site will possibly be back in 10-15 days.
    good luck.

If it is only because of some small downtime because of your hosting being unavailable, you should be fine :)

Well you should be getting some activity going on your site right now, here are the top 3 things you should do.

1- Add 2 new articles/pages to your site.
2- Make and submit a sitemap
    3- Digg/stumble those 2 new pages.

    you'll be fine :)

I was actually watching this (we are in the same niche) in the serp(s) day by day on my computer.

I saw the test site get indexed, and out ranked me on some serps, it actually jumped you up a lot at first.

I thought you were doing some type of blackhat thing though, I didn't realize it was something your hosting company did.

I wish I shot you an e-mail giving you a heads up, sorry about that.

I'm sure you will get your rankings back, but you can perhaps speed up the process (and maybe rank higher than you were before) if you add a bit of new content and do some social bookmarking, as I see another poster has pointed out to you. Good luck!

Even tho your rankings will return, kick $$$ to your hosting company for their irresponsible move.
