I bought a domain from an experienced DP member. I suggested that instead of doing a push I request a transfer to the registrar I normally use. After 10 days and multiple emails to/from the seller the transfer failed. So I open a GoDaddy account and he pushes it to that. Since I now control both ends the transfer should be easy. Wrong. GoDaddy requires you to hold the name in your account for at least 60 days before it can be transferred. Unfortunately, the domain expires during the 60 day period so I have to renew at GoDaddy. I select PayPal as the payment source for the renewal. GoDaddy wants to set up an open account with a $500 minthly limit at PayPal and THEIR AGREEMENT AT PAYPAL SAYS I WAIVE THE 12 DAY NOTICE REQUIREMENT. As I understand things that means GoDaddy can hit my account for as much as $500 without notice or warning. Not the kind of deal I normally sign up for. If you are thinking of buying/selling a few sites or domains I suggest you test the GoDaddy transfer and push processes for yourself and see if you think it will facilitate your business I also know from transfering another domain that if GoDaddy is part of the process I will get at least three emails and have to wade through many sales pitch screens to get the job done. At enom, which I normally use, a push is a single command and there are no emails.
Why did the transfer fail? I also have some domain transfer problems right now so it would be great to hear.
I have bought and sold many domains thru godaddy. Never a problem. Sorry to hear about your experience. Good Luck!
If i buy a domain name today, can I push the domain to some other soon? or do I need to wait for 60 days?
When you transfer a domain to a new registrar, you are not allowed to transfer again to another registrar with 60 days. This is an ICANN rule.
Yeah! ask their support Normally I get anwers within 6 hours from them. But be specific when u ask and give them all the details they need to know.
