You know, I came up with this idea a few months ago, and now Google is actually implementing it. They are about to start creating video ads, which will take pay per click advertising to the next level:http://adsense.blogspot.com/2006/05/introducing-video-ads.html Is this new? When did Google do this?
I don't know yet, but I'm going to find out. This is revolutionary. The webmasters who jump on this bandwagon now are going to benefit greatly. Google is full of a bunch of geniuses. I thought of this idea a few months ago, and Google has actually done it!
I think this might be more annoying than useful. Video's are more eyecatching, but this also means they are more distracting.
Are you sure that when it was announced a few months back that you didnt subliminaly catch on to it and think you came up with the idea when in reality you did not
Well it seems google does have some publishers join in the video ads network.. if you have an image only box ad unit, it could start show anytime
No, because if I did, I would have posted this thread a few months back. I was reading an adsense book when I came up with it, but it never mentioned these ads. In any event, I like it. I would have like to been the one to promote it. Notice in your comment that you said "too much flash and video" is annoying. But in reality, too much of anything is bad. I think this can be a great tool for advertisers who mix rich text content with a single video ad on the page that is directly related to the content. Unlike text ads, you won't have to put two or three on a single page. All you have to do is put one.
Telsa I think you're giving yourself too much credit. Video ads are just a natural progression of the net and the idea is not new or innovative. Making the system that allows publishers to easy integrate video ads is the genius part.
If I had a highly graphic site, I would be interested, but I'm not ever going to opt into image ads as I hate them with a passion. So unless the video ads can be opted in without having to do image ads, I'll never have them on any of my sites.
