My goal of earning $10K this summer

OK, well I just tonight decided to set a goal for myself. Over the three months of summer, I am attempting to earn $10,000 profit by buying/reselling both domains and sites.

Anyone interested in following the story can do so at www.tomhinks.com.

$1387 earned so far...$8613 to go. I think this is pretty good since I haven't even been out of school for a week yet

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else here has ever tried anything like this?

Gee, I took an Organizational Behavior class that basically told us that if you want to accomplish something set a goal for yourself, staff, or team. I guess you can test out of that class. I set monthly goals at the start of the year, I seem to fall behind and jump ahead but the goals do help.

Are you doing this only by selling off your domains? Are you including your cost for purchasing the domains in your calculation of profit?

    Good luck.

    Hehe ;)

Well I am selling off some of my current domains, but also buying new ones and reselling those, as well as actually developing several sites over the summer. And yes, I am counting the cost of purchase price AND PayPal fees. I'm trying to be as accurate as possible about my profit.

So yes, $1387 that I've earned so far is raw profit.

Why not set a goal of being a better person? That trancends money, IMHO.

I wish you all the best!

Where are you selling these domains/sites at? I'd be interested in taking a closer look at what exactly you are selling.

    And again, good luck!

Anyone can be a good person, just read the Bible and follow the basic rules and help people, where's the skill in that? How many people can make this amount of money from site selling though?

    Goodluck.

Good luck man! At the rate you are going, you should be able to hit 10K by the deadline.

10K is a decent amount of money, but in the scope of thinkgs it is quite small. A good engineer can make 70-150K a year.

You dont have to read the bibble ot be a good person, nor is it very easy when you consider all the news stories of people sinning. nevetheless, good luck.

Umm, I think that we're going off the subject a little bit ;)

Thanks for all the well-wishers, and would like to wish good luck to those of you who also have goals!

And no, $10K might not be all that much in the big picture, but in my case and and the case of many others, it is a good deal of money. I go to a private high school, so this would pay off my senior year, and then some.

Good luck in your campaign, but I do wonder if you're selling yourself a little short. It may seem like you've made that money just over the summer, but how many of the domains in your portfolio are developed and have been in use? If you're selling a site that's established, factor in the time it's taken you to gain pagerank etc, because if you sell it off too cheaply you're going to be starting over from the sandbox with your next ventures.
