Well, to tell you the honest truth I still do this with Google. It's often the sites that don't SEO that are the most useful to me
Nonsense. That hasn't been my experience at all. If you believe that, why isn't everyone aiming for page 5 on Google instead of page 1? Since I have page 1/top 5 sites on Google shouldn't I be aiming at reverse SEO to drop the ranking to 40-50? Absolute crap.
heh heh heh... I was just thinking about a scenario where everyone began looking on the lower pages because the top was filled with irrelevant sites, then people who start SEOing for 5th page, etc, then people would start finding more relevant results on the top pages, SEO targets would change again... vicious cycle But i doubt thatd ever happen. However, what is your experience isn't necessarily someone else's experience. I doubt you search for the same things I do.
NO, sorry. We were saying the results seem to be better. Less commercial, more info oriented on page 5. Of course no one is going there ...
OMG! I hope that wouldn't happen. Just imagine this post on DP yahoo/google/msn section: " This sucks! My page has suddenly gone up the SERP. Now I am bloody stucked at no 3 from 12 milion results! Bugger these engines !! Can someone help me? I want to get back to page 5 .. ie How do I get no 50 - 60 of these engines? Will linking to bad neighboor helps lowering my rank? I hate to be on the front page!! Signed YahooSucked"
no, my goal is to be listed number 1 because my customers only bother with the first page. However, I, being a bit more net-savvy in that I know where to look, often don't bother with the first few pages. Sometimes, I don't even use the search engines, but rather post on forums, asking for sites that i want.
You don't have to lie and make up a girlfriend. Everyone knows that people that get into the top results in google doesn't have a girlfriend. They either have many girlfriends or none at all.
Yeah. A general guideline is whenever you see me post in a thread there's a 99% chance it's either in general chat or should be.
I have to thank the helpful posters in this thread. Christine has found it amusing For the doubters, just try it. It doesn't always work, but often you find some really interesting and useful sites lurking where you might have never noticed them.
I was wondering if the original post was really for Yahoo and not Google till I read this and your right, Yahoo results just plain suck.
