I have revamped the look of my website. Please rate the latest design of my website? Site is here is the text hard to read from a gray background? as I am not contented. What are your suggestions?

I can't really see much about the site to criticize. It might be worth experimenting with lightening the gray main text a bit (or perhaps experiment with some different colors), but its perfectly readable on my display. It might also be worth experimenting with a slightly larger font size for the main text, to make it more readable.

The login form looks like it needs a bit of work, though. In Opera, the text boxes don't line up. The gray text there looks a bit out of place, too, for some reason. It might be worth trying a different color with a bolder or bigger font.

Sick design, I love the theme and it's so easy to follow! You've definitely got to get a few more feed followers to increase that number on your home page, but really nice stuff. Amazing logo

Thank You! Ascendancy. Wonder how can I get those numbers up???

BTW does the site load slow? I used a very large image as my background can't really remove that its part of theme sort of game of the month.

The grey is below accessibility norms - you've got a 135 luminance text over a 29 luminance background, that's well below the 50% minimum and 75% ideal. I would at minimum up that foreground text to #999, and ideal would be #DDD. Likewise that blue for the links/headings could stand to be upped a wee bit in brightness.

Besides the colors you also have an accessibility /FAIL/ from the use of undersized fixed metric fonts. All those px fonts, particularly the flow text are USELESS to large font/120 dpi users sending us diving for the zoom. %/em would be better, or at the very least pt - just remember that for the users who will see that the text will auto-expand 25% or more.

Though the biggest problem I see with it is the load time - at 610k over 56 files, it's got 8 to 30 seconds overhead just in handshaking... Worst of all is that 190k of that is javascript - and for WHAT?!? Loading TWO copies of jquery, neither of which being the official compressed version you're supposed to be sending, and NEITHER being compressed by gzip on your server?

Likewise as 'cool' as that background image and tekken banners might LOOK, at 256k for the three largest files those are unacceptably large for a website.

You make a strong point. Have to go over with my css and change those px to em and compile those scripts and combine them into 1. And for the background I guess I have to resize it to make the filesize smaller that will make a big difference.

    Many Thanks

Yeah! My deeepest apologies guys. I was attacked yesterday by a hacker by sql injection and almost got hold of my site. So I immediately tried a defensive countermeasure to stop the attack and shutdown my website. And now the site is back up live and running I also tighten up the security to prevent it from happening again.

74.53.*.* is a server farm at theplanet.com, so there is little legitimate reason to be getting USER logins from there... So I'd ban that whole region from making any forum posts, user comments in blogs or what have you.

My largest forums I've got some heavy duty region blocks in place, including the entire spine of Africa, about 2/3rds the ISP's in India and China, for being nothing but spam, failed hacking attempts and other asshattery.

Of course, you're on turdpress, and a out of date copy at that (2.8.4 vs. 2.8.5), so pwnage is pretty much to be expected. It did win last years pwnie for mass 0wnage for a reason after all.

    -- edit --

Just checked my own forums, that same username/IP address tried (and failed) to join mine (and about five other usernames from the same IP addy).

Though if you visit it manually:
    http://74.53.160.210/

You'll find that ThePlanet has suspended the users account for abuse :D so really, you don't need to bother banning that IP addy anymore, it was taken care of at the source.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I'm using WP but it seems the perpetrator entered in the phpBB forum. So now I tighten up my security.

Probably switch away from phpBB - Mein gott, phpBB AND Wordpress - run that on a windows server and you'd have the trifecta of vulnerability

That is a great design/theme you have there, i wouldn't even consider redesigning it. It looks great, well done.
