The below was written by him. "This happened about three years ago. I haven't been to a Burger King since. I ordered a hamburger with cheese. As I'm watching them make the burger, I notice that they don't put cheese on it. They wrap it up and present it to me. I explain that I wanted a cheese burger and not a regular handburger. They insist that it is a cheese burger and that there is cheese on it. I open up the sandwich, grab the meat with my own hands (no cheese of course) and I wave it in the air for all to see... I said, "Where is the cheese???" The cashier then takes the meat out of my hands, places it back in the burger, walks it back to the burger wrapper who then grabs the meat with her hands and puts the meat back in the burger drawer. I said, "Oh no you didn't. Did you just put that meat back in that drawer?" The manager came rushing to the front and I explained what happened. The manager pulled out the meat (with his hands) and said that it looks ok. He put it back. I walked out. Blech. I called the corporate office who said they would take care of the situation immediately and respond to me. No response, no return customer. And yes, I did wash my hands..." - Scott
I guess it depends on what country you are in. I managed a Burger King many years a ago and the rules were strict. We threw out a lot of food everyday and every piece of food was counted everyday. If there was a customer return, we would throw the food away and start fresh. If we received a complaint that was sent to the corporate office, we would hear from them with in 48 hours and we were required to send out an apology and a free meal coupon. I have a hard time believing that your friend did not receive at least a phone call and I have a hard time believing this all happened in front of him. Sounds to me like your friend was being a bit dramatic.
This kinda thing is exactly why I don't go to these kind of places, as far as I can see some of these people don't think about hygiene for customers. The only time I've had a Burger King and enjoyed it was in Spain, for some reason the meat in it was fairly substantial, and the place was empty. They were polite, too. -Hecky
Ah burger king .. Love their burgers . .. and onion rings which aren't oniony at all . . But yeah . . a year ago went I ordered a Whooper . . and took it to the train station to wait for the train. Then as i ate through it . . i felt a string substance in my mouth. . first i thought maybe it was just a tomato skin or something edible .. then i pulled the burger away from my face and out came this long piece of blonde hair . . . YUM
I ordered a whopper 2 weeks ago. I despise fast food, but a whole bunch of friends were eating there, so I couldn't be bothered to find a Subway, especially since there isn't one in Metrotown, which is the largest mall in Vancouver. Anyway, it tasted like sawdust, and I needed to refill on my Sprite twice just to choke it down. The deep-fried sawdust was a little stale. It does fill you up though, I'll give it that.
Thats gross!!! I try to stay clear of those places, the people who generally work there don't care what happens to the customers health wise they just work there for money not a career.
With so many individual Burger King restaurants there is bound to be some bad ones amongst the bunch. Sure it's fast food and it's not good for you but generally the companies that own Burger King and McDonald's have designed their restaurants so that as little thinking as possible is required by the employees. The fryers, grills, drink servers are all automated. All that is required is a human to wrap the food up, serve it and take the money from customers. Subway is fast food too. Do you think that all of their vegetables are as fresh as you believe??
There was a period here in Australia when most "Hungry Jacks" restaurants were converted to Burger King (was just a major brand name change). Hungry Jacks is essentially the same as Burger King. Anyway, during the BK phase it seemed as if all restaurants had much worse quality food than they had while under the HJ name. The food was disgusting - cold, soggy chips, mushy burgers and warm drinks. I'm not too sure if it was a coincidence or not but I had visited more than 10 different BK's and they were all of the same poor quality.
