Me and a buddy of mine who is in Japan have been having a fierce argument via email about Japanese society and the issue of owning fire arms. Can you believe this guy emails me and tells me he thinks its "good people in Japan aren't allowed to carry guns other than the military and police?" I told my friend he is being brainwashed. The Japanese society as a whole are a bunch of conformers who do whatever the government tells them. Here in the US, we believe in the individual, not the damn group. The Japanese people and the population of any other country that allows themselves to be disarmed are slaves. In ancient Rome slaves were not allowed to carry swords. When Blacks in the US were slaves, they to were not allowed to carry guns. When you are not allowed to carry weapons to protect yourself and your family, you are basically a slave, subject to whatever your government decides to do. I can't believe my friend is saying this! He is from Texas, for crying out loud! Look, I have much respect for the Japanese society and the technical and economic feats that they've accomplished since the second world war. But when you're not allowed to carry guns, you're a slave, period!
Are you sure it's your friend that's been brainwashed? I live in Texas. We don't walk around with six shooters on our hips and I can't recall ever seeing anyone, anywhere in public, with a gun, other than the "Rod and Gun Show" that comes into town twice a year. Maybe you are spending too much time on websites with "prison" in the url? Does Medicare cover delusion?
How does the fact that you can carry weapons to protect yourself and your family in the US does not make you a subject to whatever your government decides to do? You still have to conform to the laws created by the society, don't you?
Wouldn't it be wiser to disarm the police and government - then if nobody had guns you could all just stab each other. Its a lot more personal.
I live in the netherlands, i have no rigths to have a weapon. And no i'm no slave. I would have to say i agree with your friend .. weapons are dangerous. If people own weapons they easily decide to use them whenever they are in danger.
Japan has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, personally I would feel a lot safer walking around at night in any Japanese city rather than an American one.
Way too expensive... Let's make a little ampule of Ebola virus for each citizen, and then they[edit]we, not they[/edit] can all just go to Hell or Heaven each to his own liking
just for the record and as a member who lives in Japan, i think -and most people will agree- Japan must be by far the safest place to live. and if u cant understand ur japanese friend is because u live in a prision and you call it "home"...........watch around when u talk about state brainwashing... Who wouldnt love to live in a city where u know your young sister or girlfriend can walk anywhere they want at even 3 am and nobody will hurt her or worst to kill her? You forget anything in the subway and u know that u dont have to worry someone will call you to return it. but i guess u cant believe this living in the USA where there are so much social inequalities, but in Japan people dont own guns and almost everyone has a similar living standard. You know that in most banks in Japan there are not even security staff? imagine banks in the US without police... tell me where u study to never visit that school!!!
i hate guns here in my country many of the people who owned a gun is a PAIN in the ASS...i agree w/ berserker japan is a good country to live, my cousin told me he can go home at 3am even he is drank... btw if you dont have a gun in japan you can own a samurai sword...
Nah, not really. Trusting your government doesn't constitute a democracy, however you could argue that the civil right to distrust - and criticize - your government is definitely a very basic democratic idea.
Yeah i think i would sooner live in japan over the US. The UK is bad enough for crime dont think id want random people wandering arround with guns
I'm sure the good old 2nd Amendment was written by a bunch of brainwashed idiots? It's there for a good reason. I've lived in Arizona for 6 years now. At least once a month I see a handgun holstered on someones belt, in a gas station, inside wal-mart, etc. And since we have the right to CONCEAL firearms with a permit (8 hour class) I'm sure there's plenty more being carried that I never see. Guess what... I've never been robbed, shot, etc by any of those law abiding citizens either.
