My forum's main URL did not gain PR in the last update, but a specific forum did within my forum did. Like a subcategory. It went to PR1 while my main site stayed at 0.

Has anyone else seen something like this? I'm not going to worry about it, but just wanted to see if anyone else had this happen before as well.

Yep. Exactly the same on my forum (in my sig). There are a lot of people going through the same questions as you. I am of the same opinion to not worry too much as my rankings have stayed the same.

Like others who have posted before me, I too have seen the same thing taking place on a small forum that I manage. I've begun looking at PR less though in general -- there have been some questionable results (like this one) having taken place through each of the recent updates.

Bottom line -- if there is a PR value at all -- then it's not really cause for concern.

or it could be that your inner pages have more backlinks than your homepage. You can check this from the link:[pageurl] command in msn.

Most of my internal pages were updated from PR0 to PR4, but the domain and the index.htm file still PR1 as before. And I submitted to directories all with the domain, not internal url.

Similar thing happened with me also.
Home page stayed at pr4 ( for the last 8 months)..
and all internal pages moved from pr3 to pr4 and pr2 to pr3.

Same here.. New blog that has a LOT of natural backlinks was predicted to get a PR5.. Index stayed at PR0, rest of pages (about me, links, categories, etc) went to PR3. Very strange indeed.

I've had the same problem. My homepage where most of my backlinks are pointing stayed at PR2 while my forum went to PR4? My main site has over 18,000 backlinks and went from a PR6 to a PR5 (although it is showing PR6 on a few datacenters). The other site remained unchanged for the most part, although I'm sure some inner pages might have gotten a boost.

    Odd, that's for sure.

ok......... could google possible be measuring the importance of pages by who is using traffic, exits or usage more than links?

my home page has 30 some links and my tool has 2 pr0 links. My tool got pr3 and homepage stayed at 0.

My homepage is usually used just to get to my tools though. So could google possible be recognizing the fact that the tool is what people want in my site rather than the homepage?

Maybe this could apply to the pages with popular forums but not so popular sites also.

See the thing that is confusing is the only thing that is linking to that forum is the home page, that has a PR of 0
