I've decided to try using adsense on http://www.pinkpt.com/ a website that has historically used CPM networks (Tribal Fusion) and Infolinks as its monetary strategy. I am going to get stuck into private ad sales tomorrow. I implemented adsense however two days ago to see how it goes as the site is quite content heavy (it has over 2,000 pages of content) centering around a specfic online game; Neopets. I currently have the adsense text-only box unit placed directly after my main content. Examples: http://www.pinkpt.com/game-guides.htm and http://www.pinkpt.com/the-neopets-team.htm I have also added a horizontal link unit right below my header, above the fold. I have blended this link unit in so that it looks like part of the design. Page impressions: 8,078 (not including the horizontal ad unit) Clicks: 19 Earnings: $1.90 From reading the threads here, Adsense earnings = Clicks X $ per click. Seems what I get paid per click is very low; is there any way I can get other ads given that my website is very specific as to its content? The interesting thing is that there is another Neopets-related website called http://www.neopetsfanatic.com/ which has "zilch" content, but does very well with Adsense... Also seems my clicks are very small compared to the page impressions. Looking at http://www.pinkpt.com/ what suggestions would you have in regards to placement? Indeed. I have just added a horizontal link unit up under the header, above the fold, and styled it into the layout. I think it is done pretty well... looking at it makes me want to click the ads as they do look rather interesting.
Experimenting on ad placement is one and the click pay outs is another thing. So you need to consider the pay outs too. As far as i know games like these don't pay that mcuh but since you have a lot of traffic, maybe that would balance it out. Thanks JulieV
be careful because it is against the adsense TOS to display your CTR etc... Your privacy policy is also oudated and doesn't meet the adense TOS, update or maybe you will be banned :-(
Thanks for the note Jackie. Just to clarify, sharing your clicks, impressions and earnings is against Adsense terms of service? Using these two placements (box under content and link unit under the head above the fold), I have noticed an increase in my clicks. It's not much each day but it does add up after a while. Let's see if I can push this to $10 USD / day.
