my first wp theme- please review.

Hi!

I've been teaching myself wordpress theme coding for last month or so,i'm working on this theme to be released publically.

I need honest reviews.

where it says 'by' underneath the titles i am aware that the word "admin" after it is missing.
It was working on my localhost.

And yes the sidebar isn't complete. ..and i've just noticed the meta is missing as well. ? strange.

I'm using my website to display the theme,as i haven't set up a demo area yet.

I'd like to know suggested improvements both for sidebar and anywhere else,and if your on ie/mac/windows/safari/ff etc.
i've tested it on ie 7,ff 3 .

It's validated in xhtml and css. except the youtube embed code won't validate.

Since you are still working on your theme, there is still an opportunity to make it a fluid layout. Fixed layout have really no place today, except in very rare and specific instances for aesthetic reasons, usually art related sites, surely not text informational sites. Except for that it looks quite good.

 

looks good. but you can still make it better. The main nav color is dull.

 

Still room for improvement. I would change the logo color because it really doesn't work with the green.

 

Nice site. You need to change the style of the title and displayed with some more graphics.

 

Overall rating is good. However, your site still needs improvements. I know you are still working on it so keep it up.

I agree the header and menu is a bit dull.

For themes that will become public,and i use a brush that needs credit do i include the credit in read me file or somewhere in header.php?

I like it if you want any jpeg images as a base for your psds pm me.
they will be free but dont expect quality, you can use them just as an idea for your next themes.

The design is not bad but the color scheme could be better I do not like the color of the header.

Ok this is weird..seems like everyone else can see my website except me..and i cant access cpanel.
Looks like i'll have to put a support ticket in.

 

I review your site in IE6.
When mouse hover on the top menus , the height of changed .
It is a defect .

 

It's okay for your first one.

It is quite plain, the header's gradient doesn't look good.

Also, the menu title such as 'Pages' on the right is not good.

Keep up the work and make it better!

Thanks. Yea the sidebar isn't finished. I've swapped it in and out between having the entire sidebar equal in width,to placing a 3rd column(or 2nd sidebar) below the video. Wasn't happy with it so i took it out.

I think my problem is coming from my modem rather than the server. -how frustrating.

 

I like the glossy logos of rss feed, Stumbleupon and technorati.. But don't like the others.

 

Overall it isn't too bad.. Nothing spectacular.. Spice it up abit to make it seem less dull!

 

Not bad. I like the color choice of the header. Looks a little plain but i'm sure you'll work on it.

Some like it others don't. A few of you are saying to change the header.

Please note: I'm hosting this theme on my domain temporarily until I figure out how to set up demo's.
So if at some point this week the theme doesn't have a greenish coloured header and have dummy posts..it's becuase i'm changing it around. I probably won't be able to make changes for a few days yet-due to more urgent tasks.

I'll be sure to post the corrected url (when i've repositioned the theme in root directory) when its done.
(If anyone reading this knows how to display a demo wordpress theme within wordpress do pm me)

i have always like wordpress themes although i use blogger as my platform.

anyhow...you had a good effort going out there in your theme..i didn't like the brown sidebar color ..
