    It's pretty basic actually, your title doesn't fit in the banner etc.

    If you want to keep doing everything cheap, consider the free WordPress blogging platform and choose a nice free template ;) Looks cool though, a site about chickens! Err..animals! :)

    To be honest, your site is boring to me, don't take it bad, it is just my honest review :)

    What i would do is, install wordpress, it is free, and also use free themes, because wordpress is a blogging software which can update your site regularly, and this is loved by Search Engines. It means, more chance to get traffic. But it requires regulars writing from you :)

    Best of luck for your blog welshmullen!

    If you just want some information to put up on your website then it's okay. 2 decades back, websites were same as yours. Just bunch of some infromations and with some images and lots of gif animation. However trend has evolved and it's natural. I can assure you look and feel wise you need to improve more if you want to catch up the current trend. As "KimiGermany" suggested Wordpress can be an option for you.

    Colors don't fit together (Hard to read the text) and general design is kind of boring.

    But you can easily learn xhtml and css and have fun doing so!

    Hint: For the tittle, change the <title>Your title</title> tag in the header of your sites page

    ok, i understand and agree with what your both saying. is wordpress noob friendly? and what does it involve? and 2 decades back radiant! how embarresing lol

    I have had a little mess around only thing i am still dissapointed with is the header. i have tried inserting an image but it stays small and just gets repeated and looks silly. is theyre a way to make the image the same size? also do you think my website is now improved?

    And thank your for your time and opinions :)

    Jamie,

    LOVE what you've done since I've viewed it yesterday! A definite step in the right direction! To kill the tiling (repeating of the image), this should work for you;

    <style type="text/css">
    body
    {
    background:url(bgImage.jpg) no-repeat;
    }
    </style>

    Code (markup):
    As far as your header, I'm going to direct you to a resource that should help you in this department; CSS Header/Footer Code Generator. This should help you solidly visualize how you want the header constructed. And it'd be good for you to bookmark THIS to work with for all your fundamental website construction skills.

    And, NO, Wordpress ISN'T n00b-friendly because it isn't a simple website creator - it's a CMS (content management system) that most people choose to work with because it provides all the bells and whistles of a website, comes with tons of plugins, and most webhosts provide a one-click installation method to slide it right into your webspace.

    I recommend keeping it simple until you're more up to speed with your coding. BUT, if you're considering a CMS, I can tell you from experience that LOTUS CMS is absolutely the most n00b-friendly one there is out there because it allows you the ability to port your own coding into its' structural framework seamlessly, with the LEAST amount of learning curve (and I've pored through the choices over the last 5 years - PERSONALLY).

    You CAN do it, Jamie, really, you can :) - just keep at it.

    And one more note, Jamie, use THIS resource to create a color palette for your site. You pick a color (use the hex code option) and it's matched with all the other colors it goes well with (complimentary colors). Also, download Colorpix from this same website, and you'll be able to get the colors you want from any webpage on the net.

    None of my sites cost me a penny. I code HTML/PHP/java since 1995. But I still have to pay the $7 for a domain and the $45/year (for all of them) for the hosting though...

    @ubservers'
    This is INDEED an awesome resource (thanks for the tip, bookmarked), but not very n00b-friendly. I only suggested Colorschemer because it's dead-simple AND comes with that awesome program , Colorpix, that I've been using to extract the exact hex codes. Let him get up to speed first as he's a self-admitted n00b (lol!).

    Wordpress is definitely the way to go for someone who is new to design. Like Kimi said, it is very search engine friendly. They are really easy to setup and there are a lot of really cool themes you can grab for free.
