    Nice for a first.

I have an absolute hatred for pixel fonts, and the text that says "The Portfolio" is a pixel font. Now, it's just a personal taste but I don't think it looks that great. The logo is pretty creative, but I'm not liking the texture on the font. One last thing, I think the shadows opacity should be lowered, it's too dark IMO.

    Good luck. :)

This text in header "saddiq designs" you should make better. This is too simple. Make something with more colors, with some fades and things like that. If you want any help, just send PM ;)

Color contrast of the orange on white is effectively illegible. You appear to be aiming towards a fixed width layout which is instantly made of /FAIL/ in my book, and you do not have a website design, you have a goofy pretty picture. Starting out in the paint program drawing a picture is IMHO a back-assward approach to web design.

Figure out what elements are going on the page, write clean semantic markup for those elements, then use CSS to bend that markup to your will to create the layout. Then and ONLY then start up the paint program to create graphics to hang on the layout.

Otherwise when it comes time to plugin your content you'll end up trying to fit a square peg into the round hole.

Wasn't trying to harass, simply pointing out that if you are starting out, you are starting in the wrong place - NOTHING wrong with that, you are just starting out, you're EXPECTED to do that, especially since a lot of people actually advocate starting out in a paint program. You asked for advice, you don't like the advice - fine. Don't take it.

I did not say paint, I said a paint program. Photoshop is a paint PROGRAM, as is Paint Shop Pro (my tool of choice, though I use PS when neceessary), the GIMP, pixel32, and a whole host of other shiny toys.

I'm just saying that it really should be the last tool in the process, not the first.

I would like to give a couple of suggestions.

    1. You need to definately improve your logo, buy not using patterns in them. why dont you try using gradient instead. There are quite a lot of websites for inpiration. Checkout www.pixellogo.com

    2. Also i m personally not a very big fan of using drop shadows everywhere.

but its good for the first time. you will definately learn more in coming months.

    hope this helps.

    cheers

I think it looks great, don't listen to these haters... Your portfolio represents you, and you designed this.. I wouldn't change a thing. Not even the fonts. Good luck!

I like the font on your main logo, although i would personally change the texture of it to something more simple.

I also think there are too many drop shadows on everything and these should either be removed or the opacity should be increased.

Final comment would be to remove the text 'The Portfolio' because it doesn't seem to fit in and people will probably realise that it's your portfolio anyway.

    Other than that, nice work!

Great layout btu one thing at the bottom it says "Designed and coding by..." It should either be "designed and CodED" or "Design and codING" But the layout is good apart from the already mention font texture. I really like the dots on either side as they are nice and simplistic but a great effect.
