I have just built a website using strict xhtml / css. How do i go about getting those little valid xhtml and valid css icons on the bottom of my page? thanks in advance
You can get them from the validators at the w3. If your pages validate the images are shown on the same page: HTML validator http://validator.w3.org CSS validator http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ JR
Don't worry about them. They tend to take up space and waste HTTP server requests for no good reason. While it's nice to know that your code is valid, there's no need to advertise it to the world. (And this is coming from someone who's been developing Web sites since 2002.)
I clicked on this post labelled: my first time, and all you told me about was code. My first time was with a woman. This thread is a letdown!
I like to use the icon. I bothered to learn the right way to code... your browser will bother to make an extra request... happy. Esp since the country I live in is pretty much built for Windows, and while "valid" doens't mean "works in all browsers" I use it mean that as well. I buck the Dutch trend. : ) Watch out though... you validate your page, then add or change something... woops forgot to end a tag! Not valid with a "Valid" label. Now you look the fool. Continually re-validate!
Thanks for all your replies... and however i tend to think it looks a little un-professional when the icons are displayed. The normal Joe bloggs/ end user won't even know what they are... I bet if we compiled a list of the top 100 website for large companies, they won't have them listed... anyway an opinion is like an ar*ehole... everyone has one...
^top 100 companies won't have the little icon anyway cause most sites (even of large companies) are not valid.
