Okay - pro's - don't laugh. I just finished my first full month with Adsense on my sites. I managed to secure $33.48 in click revenue, and most of my ad blocks are displaying relatively useful links (which I feel is important for the advertisors sake) I have ads on a total of 3 low traffic websites. The first week I had some ads on one site, the second week I added it to a couple more, and then last week I made some placement changes that seemed to effect the number of clicks I got. Keep in mind none of my sites were created with advertising in mind, so I've had to 'make do' and retrofit pages for ad space. Week 1 www.saversites.com - I've edited it some now - produces relevant ads) www.saversites.com/editor/ - again - recent edits have improved ad relevancy and clicks (I have an Ebay affilliate ad here also) Week 2 www.secondchancecenter.com - Placement is unfortunately 'below the fold', and ads are sometimes more concerned with Phoenix, than with employemnt. www.saversites.com/search_engine_optimization_guide.htm - added this little SEO guide with ads down the side - all relevant ads. Week 3 www.sanctuaryone.com - Placement edits seem to have helped, and ads are relevant for the most part. Any comments or advice on what I might do to improve clicks..? Am I doing anything 'out of step' with the TOS..? (not that I can see) Overall I averaged a bit over a $1 a day - even with a poor first week. I'm intersted to see what month 2 has in store, and look forward to your comments.
Remember to treat them as exit points. Make them prominent -they blend in too well with your site. I had to look over your www.saversites.com home page twice to find them. Make them obvious, set them up in the users eyes as an exit point from your site, so they can defer to them quickly the moment they wish to. The site looks engaging enough to retain user interest if design is what they're looking for.. else they're gonna keep hitting that back button, and you're gonna keep missing out. Cheers, JL
I agree with Tops30 (although my first month was a little better than his ) Its quite a good start. A dollar a day is a way to start right? You just learned the value of a webpage. Now increase the pages, visitors, optimize, advertise, increase, start all over again and do it again.....To change that to 30 a day.... perhaps eventually 30 an hour, like Shawn or Tops30 Its harder to get 30 a month, than to multiply that *100. Probably some will disagree with me as they say they could earn 30 a month within a day of work, but they forget that they had to invest years of reading, trying and investing into their own knowledge before they became that good that they could do that in a day of work, if you get what I mean. With 30 a month, you are an internet entrepeneur Congrats!
Yup keep repeating the same process that worked. Get all your pages spidered on the engines and good luck.
Oh, yeah.. Dirkjan has made a very good point.. we all start somewhere.. so well done ! I think I made around $25 the first month I monetized a web asset.. so you did better than I Cheers, JL
In my first full month of actually making anything with adsense, I made $25 exactly. The challenge is to turn that monthl amount into a daily amount - it then become much much more useful
It is better than a sharp stick in the eye. Good job. You will be surprised at how that will grow over time. Now you have to motivation to add content and find better placement for your ads, new colors, etc.
Well done! I even dont remember making 0.01$ for the first month! Considering that it is really a good job! But You had preciuos help comming in from DP memers!
Nice work - I only made $9.00 my first month. How much traffic are you getting? $33 sounds phenominal considering those ads probably don't pay very highly.
Jayson - Congrats to a fellow Phoenician! Also want to say thanks for all the contributions you have made on this Forum that have helped me and others; and to pay some respect for having other priorities in life besides webmastering: www.secondchancecenter.com www.sanctuaryone.com
Nice, work, buddy! I remember when I had to wait 2 months to reach the minimum payout amount with Adsense. Now I reach it in 2 days. As time passes you will learn all the tricks and tweaks for getting nice conversion rates. Keep up the good work
hmmm looking at my report now, i did $46.00 the first month. at that time i had a medium traffic site i think, with 5.000 impressions / day. then this website went down (the guy who maintaneid the site with me quit) then my earnings went down a lot. and before anyone says, no i DID NOT, clicked my own ads
I took under $1.00 in my first month. I think I was around $19 last month which was my 6th month!!! But things are picking up and hopefully I'll be printing it by Christmas.
LOL - I did less than 10 cents my first month - but I only had ads on the "links" page of my site at that time. I have the following suggestions: on saversites.com - the ads are really well integrated, and I also had to look a little too hard for them. The problem is that particular block doesn't get much attention with everything else going on. Try changing it to a single ad, and placing a clipart image over that ad. Maybe like a fist full of money or a green dollar sign or dollar bill or something. On secondchancecenter.com - maybe move that ad block up between two of the article blocks. By the time I get to the ad block, it's not desirable to read. If it was up between 1 and 2 or 2 and 3, I would probably (as a visitor) read the ads and be more likely to click on them. at sanctuaryone.com You have a PSA in the 4th slot on the home page. For that reason, you probably want to reduce the size of the adblock to a two ad adblock. Having said that, it might behoove you to redesign the layout slightly to place the ads directly below your 1page and 10page sample site images. As far as the adlinks go, good placement, but I still wonder about adlinks effectiveness since it's two clicks to get paid. I use them too, but I have no idea how often they get clicked. It seems like the same ads that I've always seen on that site, so maybe you should put images appropriate for those ads above them. (methodist church ad and business cards ad)
No. Start > Programs > Accessories > Calculator might help [edit] LOL, I don't know what was going on but we're both wrong ... 33.48 / 0.20 = 167.4 0.2 * 167.4 = 33.48 WTF was I doing earlier?
