My first forum - what needs doing to vbulletin

OK, I've done most things on the web but never owned a forum.

VB has been purchased and set up and it all seems OK. What I want to know is the things you need to alter in VB to make it both SEO friendly and to reduce duplicate content issues.

Any tips? (Don't say buy VBSEO.........)

I'm not too bothered about the url's. More thinking about any folders I should be blocking in robots.txt or anything else.
