my first experience with coop..

ok, so I got 60K weight I didn't know what to do with and I've decided to see if it can help me rank better..

So I've just pointed it all to one site. Now, around 2 weeks later the site shows 20K links in yahoo, but still no ranking and no significant increase in traffic.

Before coop it had less than 1000 links.

So is it too little weight or should I wait more to see any results?

I might suggest that its too much weight to soon, I would intorduce it gently and it will effect YAHOO and MSN, still not convinced about GOOGLE though

60k is a fair amount of weight. I would distribute it over several pages, focusing on the best anchor text for each destination page.

I can see clearly how co-op weight has raised my Google SERPS.

well, it was not a new site, it has pr4 on most pages, just not ranking anywhere actually.. :(

Other sites that are ranking first for that keyword have 10-15K links, so it should be ok.. may be I need to wait more I think.

Will, how long did it take to see first results for you?

It usually takes a few weeks to see the co-op boost.

I have seen clear evidence of boost in Google with the coop.

I would never use more than 7K weight on a single ad ... it is too risky.

You have to vary the anchor and also do ads for your internal pages. Also coop should not be a majority of your backlinks, it's not healthy.

I have more than 40 ads and 150K weight.

I know one person who is doing just fine giving out 70K of weight to one URL!!!! That page has a PR 6!!!! I'm not sure HOW he does it!!! I've got one of my sites banned from giving a page as much as 30,000 views a day from the co-op!!!! Luckly it was a Redscowl Bluesingsky page and I won the cash and got the laptop, so that page isn't even needed now!!! :D

It is mostly new sites that are fragile for GoogleBowling and various penalty filters.

Old, trusted and established sites will just take all the juice.

You update the weight distribution (1-15, measured in %) of each ad and click on "update".

Sounds like a good rule of thumb for allocating weight. I am curious - any other general ideas of what "max" weight to point to a page?

What do you do with your excess of weight? How do you assign it slowly?

    You only have 1 site?

Place ads for all your internal pages. 3 ads for each with different anchors. That would be enough. :)

If still excess of weight, well make an ad for Google.com and place it to that one.

    But that wouldn't be slowly.

I just saw another thread where a link to Matt Cutt's site was the reason to be banned from COOP.

    Thanks.

And that would be me!

Just to let you know Matt's site went from out of top200 to nr15 for "Search Engine Optimization" within 7 days and in MSN as well, only not yet in Yahoo.

Yahoo is much more slowly and know another site which is ranking top10 for "Web Design" 2 months AFTER I've stopped pointing links to it.

Coop works for SERP's no doubt, but it can be bowled as well if you're not carefull. Even 5 years old established pure white sites can be bowled, not only new sites.

Best bet is to take it slowly and point some max nr of links to your own site and yes, the other weight to some other site. Am still not sure if that's allowed as it did get me banned, although Shawn claims another reason(which is directly related to the fact the ad was denied for the fact the weight was pointed to a site I didn't own)

Okay, so here is theoretical question - Can you accidently bowl a site, even if you distribute the weight across many pages in the same site? Or is it more about a great deal of weight pointing to one page?
