I've just brought myself a domain that I hope to sell. This is the first time I've tried such a thing, so any tips for a newbie domainer?

I suggest you keep your eyes peeled for a bargain, I'll be posting in the BST forum pretty soon and I don't really know what I'm doing ;)

Provide all the stats with the sale.

    OVT / WT scores: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/
Google results: type "domain name" and see how many times it appear

    Any pagerank, traffic, etc

    Good luck.

You definetly should do a multi forum selling to get more buyers.
if you want a few webmaster forums with selling forums here's a list.
    sitepoint.com
    clantemplates.com
    talkfreelance.com
    sitemarketplace.com
    wdtalk.com
    digitalpoint.com
    namepros.com
    greenearners.com
    sitemf.com

and there's a few others but i cant remember right now, the more buyers you have the better price you will get.

It all depends on the domain name.

Short domain names tend to be popular with some. Domain names which are single dictonary word are valuable. Domain name with traffic and with PR would be more valuable. Domain name with all the above and history (ie a few years old) would command more. Domain names which makes money will be even more valuable.

Thank you all for your input.

You can take a look at my first auction if anyone is interested. It is a relatively short (6 letter) pronounceable .COM which I am hopeful will do pretty well.

What do you think for my first attempt? Thanks :)

Not a bad auction - seems to include all major and applicable components. Good luck with the sale!

Personally I think it rolls off the tongue, I pronounce this as "zerst". What about you?

You pronounce "ou" as "e" ?

Even if this is true i imagine the happiness of the zerst.com domain when he will get the type-in surfers of zourst.com

When a domain doesn't have a clear pronunciation and doesn't refer to an english word or something common, lowers his value

What's your budget, and what are your aims?

This is what one needs to know to give you a wise suggestion :)

At the moment by budget is fairly low, hence why I simply registered a domain and I am now selling it off ;)

My aims? The obvious one, make a bit of cash. I have my fingers in a lot of pies and this is just another pie I'm looking at! :)

Most of the .com's are registered. The good ones years before so for serious cash i don't think a name with good pronunciation will do
Buying from bargain offers has more % than registering from scratch

Maybe you get $2-100 but this is pie it requires all your finger and even better if you had 12 fingers (because you need to keep your 2 fingers crossed to find the suitable end buyer) :|

    Low budget means $10, $100, $1000 or $10000 ?

The aims you can reach are strongly dependent to this. Noone can make $1m from a $10 investment and this is a common mistake for who starts domaining :)

    I agree with falco
Your budget to this industry is very crucial
Good names worth enough $$$$ and you can't find them free for $8 registration
However there are plenty with few dollars profit
