My First Directory

Over the weekend I sat down with my "new" laptop and was bored so I decided to start a directory. I am wondering if anyone here has some advise about looks, useability, categories, etc.. The theme for this directory is going to be forums, and messageboards, because I couldn't find a decent one when I was looking a few months ago.

So if you would like to look at it please PM me. I want to make sure everything looks and works good before I get a bunch of people adding links and then me having to delete them for one reason or another.

Make sure you give static spiderable links that will pass PR. Don't use any redirect tracking scripts. If you follow this and use a layout that gets all pages indexed then you should be able to get many reqests for inclusion.

 

Check out your competition; see what they are doing; do it better.

I couldn't find that many when I looked my first time
I only like two of them and they are ones that are using the same script as me, which is cplinks. Is this a good script? Or should I try a different one, or make my own.

 

You could use the free biz-directory script http://www.biz-directory.org/directory_script.php. It works great, you could also apply an mod_rewrite to make the links static.

I think that I have gone as far as I can at the moment, added a lot of categories now it is time to be reviewed and links added. So add your sites, it is completely free and no recip is required but since it is a new site it would be very helpful
