It really comes down to targeted traffic and how soon you start getting it. You can't expect to make many sales if you're not getting much traffic. As a general rule of thumb, 3-months is a good time before most sites start getting considerable traffic (if you have been regularly promoting the site).
yes, i agree with you. promoting takes more of my time now. but sometimes, i'm being inpatient and want quick result. checking at the traffic stats is irresistible and this feeling of uncertainty of reaching a decent traffic sometimes overwhelms me. but i know i will get there like what others have done.
If you're a new affiliate just hang in there and keep working on your site. The conversions are better on Amazon so it's better you stick it out with Amazon than some other network. Once you've developed a system that you know works, you can repeat the process on other sites to grow your revenue.
Can you clarify, selling stuff on, or selling stuff for? (e.g. are you punting your own products that are sold on amazon, or punting stuff already on amazon in the usual affiliate manner) - assuming it's the latter.
Nice! I've learned to avoid people who say that promoting electronics on Amazon isn't worth it due to the 4% commission cap. It's much easier to build a site around a particular model of an appliance than pretty much anything else and if you sell high-priced goods on a site with solid in-depth, first-person reviews you can really clean up.
Congrats on your sale! I love Amazon customers because they may click your link to buy something relatively inexpensive, but then add other items which makes for a nice payday. Customers trust Amazon and literally buy everything on the site. I know I use their prime shipping service which provides free shipping service. I buy many mundane household items on the site, but it adds up. I know many people do the same. Even though their payout is low, you can still make great money.
This keeps me thinking in times of doubt: Remember that people are willing to spend money on the stupidest of things, and if you had something to do with it, you get paid. Good job!
Very nice! It's always fun to log in and see a big purchase knowing it's money in the bank! Today I logged in to find I sold a Canon T3i DSLR camera and got around $30 commission. Keep it up bro!
