My First Clickbank Product

Discussion in 'ClickBank' started by cbsingleton, Jul 1, 2010.

I have just finished an ebook which I want to market on ClickBank and I just had a few questions. First a few pieces of info about the product I have. It will be in the eBusiness section, it is a guide for beginners on how to make $50 a day. Now onto my questions.

    1. How hard is it to get affiliates on a new product?
    2. What is an effective commission to try and entice affiliates? (i.e. should I offer affiliates $10/$20/$?? per sale.

That's all the questions I could think of at the moment, but I would welcome any tips from people who have sold their own product on clickbank before.

if you want affilliates, you need to market your product well. also the commission should be 75% else most wont be interested.

Make sure you TEST the product for conversions first!

Do not just make a product, website and then put it on here and think it will fly (it may do but you will be very lucky if that were to be the case!:))

Test the salespage for conversions and get them down as low as possible for your niche and then launch and see if you have to worry about affiliates...

If you are working with Clickbank i would say set the commission 70% - 75% or most affiliates will not look at it unless of course you have loads of upsells and an awesome conversion rate.

With clickbank, you have nothing much to worry about concerning traffic. There are thousands of affiliates promoting different clickbank products. I have a product on clickbank and I receive hundreds of visitors from affiliates promoting my product. I get these visitors without any effort on my part. I do not even spend money on PPC, article marketing, twitter, etc. The visitors just come through affiliates and they buy my product.

However, the interest affiliates would have in promoting your ebook would depend on these major factors:

    1. the percentage of commission you are offering - 40%, 50%, 60%, 70% or 75%? If your ebook is in a very competitive niche, try to offer 75% affiliate commission. If it is not too competitive, you may offer something like 50%. For whatever clickbank product, do not offer below 50% if you want to make money.

    2. the niche market your ebook is targeting. Less competitive niches always have many affiliates promoting the products.

    3. the quality of your sales letter. If you have a poorly written sales letter, don't expect many affiliates to promote your product.

    4. whether the people in your targeted niche market are willing to buy. Some niches don't have high competition but the people are not willing to buy. They are only interested in search for the information over the internet. For example, if you have an ebook teaching PHP programming, there are many people who need the information. The niche is not competitive but people are not willing to buy the ebook that will teach them because they believe that PHP programming is too technical. If you have an ebook on this, you may not sell. People will only search through google and get the information free of charge on the internet.

One other thing to remember is that getting affiliates is not the end of the road. Most affiliates will sign up, give your product a go and then give up when it doesn't make them $100s a day. You have to coach them. Give them as many resources and as much help as you can. At the very least host an affiliates resource page on your site and get them to sign up to your list so you can keep reminding them to pitch your product.

don't forget an affiliate sale is one you probably wouldn't have made yourself so it is a bonus for you. the affiliate is doing the hard work so make sure you offer them the biggest share of the pie.

higher the commission the better of course, but at the same time don't sell yourself too short because at the end of the day it has to be worth your while, so maybe somewhere between 50-70% or so

a lot of affiliates would expect at least $20 - $30 per sale or else it wouldn't be lucrative enough for them...

Quality of your ebook must also be good. If you have a good sales letter but a crappy ebook, then your refunds will be high and you may start losing your affilliates.

    1. Ebook must be of High quality content, with a well designed attention grabbing Title and E-cover
    2. YOU MUST have a super killer Sales copy, even if its going to cost you to outsource it to a professional copywriter.
    3. Minimum 70% affiliate commissions
    4. Pitch, aproach and beg the super affiliates to send your product to their list ( offer a speacial discount).
    5. Have a back end product
    6. Get as much press release as possible, dont just sit back and let the affiliates push your product, get the word out, that your Ebook is available now.PR etc..

    Hope it helps

When I'm looking for a new product to promote, the commission I look for depends on the topic. If it is an elaborate topic with little competition, I would be willing to promote as long as I get at least $20 per sale. If it is an over saturated niche, I look for a %60-%75 commission.

On the sales pitch page, as soon as I see grammar errors, I hit the x button. Same goes with big, colorful all caps sentences and disorganization and disorienting graphics. I prefer to promote a product that has an informative and professional looking sales pitch page. With a website like this, the sales might come in slower at first but it shows that the author likely has a well established product which will likely results in a steadier customer base and less refunds.

As far as tools go, I will still promote a product whether or not there are any. Some tools I rarely see offered but probably would be helpful are subject ideas that are related to the product indirectly or exclusively and a quick list of facts about your product (no opinions or facts like we are number 1! similar products are rip offs!). Giving indirect subject in an article or blog entry might end up being a subject in which the affiliate is more familiar with than your product and might end up in higher quality promotions and more sales. Although a good affiliate should be able to do all this on their own, it would help noobs and you should see better results.

Oh yeah, don't beg and plead for affiliates to promote your product, makes you sound lazy and desperate.

Good strong sales copy, a good looking sales page, good conversions, good commission (50% minimum up to 75%).

I also look at the sales funnel as well. Are you just selling a single ebook, or do you have an upsell or a downsell on the back end? Are there any one-time-offers where the affiliate and you can make even more profit?

Those are the kinds of things I look out for.

Just delete all pop-ups etc. and you will see that it will become much easier to attract affiliates and do not forget to offer 75% on each sale.

Good for you. I hope I will make e-book someday and when I will be making a $50 dollar a day then I would surely write an e-book. You should put a price of $30. I like to know the link of the product.

Guys, regarding e-books and things, I mean most of these sales landing pages and such look like scams, do you really make money off of this? I mean sure there's a sucker born every minute, but aren't you just telling them but in many more words, to create a website, and have loads of unique content?
