My first book just got published on Amazon.http://amzn.com/1470099551From the back cover...Business and Technology Integration is about the relationship within companies between business units and the information technology teams that support them. A strong relationship with clear communication can propel any company to greatness. A poor relationship can doom a company to failure. The book in your hands tries to bridge the gap between these two groups and establish a clear line of communication with common sense advice on how information technology teams work and how to work with business units. If anyone is interested in writing a book, I wrote a short blog post about the experience -> http://www.cerebellumstrategies.com/self-publish-createspace/. If you still have questions, you can post here or send me a message. If you think you have a book idea, my advice is to go for it. I walked around with this idea for several years before I finally decided to sti down and write. It is easier than you think.
Hey Thomas, I have my first book coming out on Amazon in about a week. Any advice on marketing? Thanks, thecaptainpower
The first thing to realize is that most books sell about five copies. I have sold a few more than that, but my goal wasn't to write a best selling novel. I wrote a book about my profession - IT. I wanted to enhance my resume, showcase what I know, and wanted to share my knowledge. I accomplished all of that. What I am trying to say is writing the next Harry Potter series is like winning the lottery. I didn't promote my book as heavily as I could have. Having said that, there are a few things you can do. Family and Friends - Tell your family and friends and ask them to buy copies. Sell Online - You should try to get an online method of selling your book - Amazon, Itunes, etc. Reviews - Where ever you publish, get people to write honest fair reviews of your book. Promotion - Post about your book on your website Related Articles - write articles that talk about topics in your book and post a link. Advertising - Google, Facebook, and Microsoft offer paid advertising with $50 or $100 free to start. I am sure there are other ideas. Good Luck!
Thank you for the kind words and support. If any of you need any further advice on publishing or IT, just let me know.
I realize that I am a bit late, but nevertheless I want to say: " Congratulations". I really admire people who have had put the time, the effort and the skill into writing a book.
