My first blog

I read here on DP how much a blog can help promote a website as well as bring in a few extra dollars.

here is my first attempt - http://accordingtojoe.blogspot.com/

My plan is to discuss current events in any sort of area.

Am I on the right track? I am using the same adsense account I am using with my business website, is that OK or should I have a personal account with Google as well?

Any input on my blog? Good, bad or ugly?

    Thanks

I'm not sure you're really on the right track. a better choice might be adding a blog to your site. you'll want to post things relating to your site, to help draw targeted traffic.

I like the design. And I agree completely with leroy. Good start.

    OK

My thought was to have another entity out there to help drive traffic to my business site. Are you saying there should be a link to this blog from my website?

I am already working on adding other content to my site relating to the products I sell.

i am in love with your truck techniques banner , but i think the TT banner + FF referal + adsense + adsense banner on the right is being a overkill .
cut down any one of them ... let the user read whats there apart from the banners and ads

I visited your blog and it is a nice blog but I think you should post more frequently. The way you are posting in your blog (giving links to other wbesites or blogs), you can easily update your blog more than 3-4 times. Visit my blog and you will see that I upload daily 3-5 times.

Thanks - the same guy who did my logo did a few banners for me, KoolDezine.com

I see what you are saying obout the overkill, I had the options with the blog software, so took advantage LOL. I'll cut back.

    Thank you.

I don't have much experience with blogs, I can start updating it more often.

Are you saying I should not use as many links to other information? Maybe I should paraphrase the information myself and leave the reader on my page instead of sending them off? That seems like some common sense I have overlooked

lol ... seems u liked razibs comments very much :D

additionally i would also recommend not putting adsense or any contextual ads on your primary site . you do want to sell your own products first , right ?

I just updated the blog, removed the Adsense ad & Firefox banners from the top.
Removed the google search box and ADsense referral box on the rigtht. I did add a smaller Firefox referral ad on the bottom right instead.
Good advice as usual here on DP :D

Consensus on this is pretty close here on DP, I have a thread on it elsewhere. My sales have stayed about the same since I put up the adsense ads, I did remove them from the biggest sellers.

I am still on the fence, I'll give it a month or so before I pull them or not :D

You can send many links in your psot. There is nothing wrong it as people can know about a story better. I just said that you update your blog 3-4 times.
