My first blog is flailing, should I start over?

My blog is approximately 4 months old.

Over time, I've tried Entrecard and other methods to build traffic. At one period of time I had a high of 160 hits per day. However, my bounce rate was almost 100% and everyone was hitting my site to drop and then leave.

After leaving Entrecard, I tried different methods of advertising, primarily Project Wonderful. While I got a few hits per day, two weeks ago, I decided to stop paying for traffic to my blog.

Yesterday, my blog hit an all-time low and got 1 hit... and it was from me!

I'm thinking maybe its time to take the things I've learned in the past 4 months and start over. The down side is, I have over 500 backlinks pointing to my front page (but almost none pointing to my articles) and I would have to give them up.

Instead of a general dog blog (which is what I started with), I would like to find a great niche with minimal competition from the start and use a keyword rich domain name.

What do you think? Should I start over?

 

you can start multiple sites that way you are more diversified

Your Site seems good Enough I think it was Because you Were Dropping Entrecards and Not Looking for Related Blogs Join Mybloglog and Blogcatalog find some Dog Blogs and Post comments and Link to Them

 

you can try by particular article marketing on twitter, digg. sometimes it helps a lot. but it should be done regularly. you can also go for directory submission, it will help you for SEO. Best of luck.

Thanks for the advice. I've set up mybloglog and BlogCatalog, however I don't spend a lot of time there.

Article marketing sounds like a great idea. I've set up an account on Twitter, but really want to use it correctly when it comes to marketing so I don't annoy my followers.

 

You Have to use Topics and click the on the Topics you will find a list of Members Talking about Dogs or Dog Training add them to your contacts this is the way I use it

I think it’s a great domain name, and in all honesty if you wanted it could be made into a blog about any topic… if dogs could read then they might tell congress that the health care system just isn’t working.
