I've been using PPC for a while now but it stopped being profitable for me... so I thought i'd try SEO next. I made my first site following examples from google sniper. The site got indexed within a few days and was #2 on page 2 of google. I added another blog post with my main keyword phrase and in another few days was at the #5 spot on the first page... not bad for just starting out! Yesterday I added one adbrite ad into the page on my top blog post and today I find myself back to the #2 spot on the second page after being there for a good 5 days on the first page... Could that adbrite ad have hurt my ranking? The second blog I built 2 days ago and just got picked up by google today... I can't seem to find that page anywhere within the top 10 pages of google.. lol. The competition is quite a bit more for that keyword phrase though... but I was hoping for the first couple of pages at least. The only back links that i've used are about 20 or so social bookmarking sites... I might try and write an article to submit to ezine articles and see how that does... ...any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks, Drew
Yes or you could get your own software tool to do it for you instead of paying someone - check out my sig - new software just released at a very low launch price
Your site speed also matters in ranking. Adbrite might have slow down your site and that would have pushed down the SERP.
SEO is very difficult in the begining especially for brand new websites. You feel like you do a ton of work for little results. Like someone said unless you want to be a SEO guy then hire someone who knows what they are doing. A good SEO company should not cost you any money but rather make you money.
SEO is tedious and hard work for new websites. Keep on continuing your SEO techniques and you can see results after several months.
Keep an eye on the competition of your targeted keywords. Also, prior to the start of your SEO campaign, you have to thoroughly research and plan your campaign keeping in mind your targeted long-tail and short-tail keywords based on their search density and competition. It is a matter of luck that you have got some keywords ranking well and within a weeks time. There are a lot of factors that might have triggered it. But expecting this for every website might not be the best thing to do.
yes... hard work =) ...i just wrote a blog post that wasn't really related to the main keyword and dropped off the front page again all the way back page 3.. lol this site is basically just an test though... at least i'm learning
i've started on the long road of SEO.... i have a few things i've done, maybe 40 odd different things, but god its confusing. just really need to sit down and not worry about design as much as SEO and see what happens... hohumm.... whats your site drew so we can see your onsite seo?
down to page 9 on google... page 1 (# 2 spot) on yahoo and bing... yep, this is complicated but also interesting to play around with
Try link building it will save you from loosing PR juice which is still accounted for when being placed on the first page of Google. Keyword and data stuffing comes second, you cannot ignore it and you cannot overdo it either. Best of luck with SEO and its nuances .. they simply make a person go crazy at times.
