My First $150 day w/ CJ

I hit a milestone Monday, marking my first $150 day as a Commission Junction affiliate.

I know it's not a ton of money, but I want to give back so we all increase our CJ incomes.

This post and milestone means a lot to me considering the journey I've taken to reach this goal.

Here's a few tips I used to increase my earnings:

Target Buyers - In the beginning, I threw up banners on my site and generated lots of clicks, but no sales! Why? Because most of my traffic wasn't interested in buying. They were most likely done reading an article and felt curious. This type of traffic doesn't convert.

You want people interested in buying what you offer. Try reviewing or comparing products. You'll attract buyers instead of article readers.

Dominate the SERPs - It helps to dominate as many keywords in the search engines as possible. This means sometimes using more than 1 site for the same niche.

Think about it: 3 of your sites list in the top 10 for a keyword, you dominate 30% of ALL Google's Top 10 listings for that particular keyword. The chances of luring a visitor onto 1 of your sites increases greatly.

It's all a numbers game. Trust me. More targeted clicks = more earnings.

Be Creative - Read other articles & blogs, and use their ideas. But you also have to be creative. Is there a different way to attract targeted buyers through your affiliate links?

Offer a unique service that's not currently offered in your market. Think outside the box, and think quickly before someone else does!

You're Not Alone - I thank DP forums for providing a supportive community of like minded affiliates where genius stems. None of my at-home friends are interested in making money online, but DP represents my own collection of online friends. I would've quit already if it weren't for these forums.

Good idea.

A lot can be learned here.... I like to see what other affiliates are doing to get ranked well for competitive terms.

Following other sites and keeping a close eye on them has also helped me make more with adsense.

 

I have also learned a lot here. $150 a day isn't bad at all. I am still looking to get my affiliate links really started it seems like it will make me more then other thigns such as adsense

 

I was caught up in Adsense Land for a loong time. Until I discovered that affiliate marketers used Adsense to make money!

I was making the Super Affiliates rich! So I focused my business model less on Adsense, and started reading every affiliate marketing article available.

If your niche doesn't have a lot of advertisers, then Adsense is your best bet. But most likely you can make a good amount with aff if you learn a technique then repeat it.

I'm starting to focus more on affiliate marketing now than AdSense because the payout is faster and bigger.

Not dropping AdSense, though, because that's still money.

This forum and the Warriors forum are the two best IMO. You can spend days going through them and not run out of stuff to read.

Mostly leads in the business/finance market. I'm trying to learn more about eBay so I can diversify into the sales commissions as well.

That's one of my ongoing projects.

My next goal is to create a eBook that explains exactly what I've done step by step.

I don't participate in any spam, black hat, or plain sleezy techniques either. Just plain old descriptive, keyword filled SEO copy, around 10 minutes a day following other sites, and of course the right call to action.

Would anyone pay $10 for an ebook like that? I've also thought about offering it for free as well.

 

Can you share you niche and the amount of traffic you receive in you site..I promise I wont copy your idea
