How long did it take before you finally figured out your entire system?

It took me over 3 years to figure out this industry and I'm still very much learning. It took all of that knowledge, plus a very dedicated 3-4 months to get this off the ground.

I just set my campaign back to strictly the content network. How long will it be until I finally start getting some serious impressions? Also, since I'm using the content network, is it necessary to bid on tons of keywords in the same category? I'm going for the word "wholesale" so should I only bid on that keyword or should I include most of the keywords the Adwords Tool generates for that?

Oh ok! I see how it works now! Plus, after you get approved you will have to get re-approved if you change your ad. Good thing I caught that because I'm constantly changing my ad.

Why would you bid only on content network?? This works for AJ, but it does not mean that it will work for you. You will have completely different keywords, so maybe your keywords would be good for search network, but not for content. Thats why testing is mother of affiliate marketing.
You need to test many approaches before you start making serious money.

I really have enjoyed following this thread trying to pick up the occasional tactic, technique and tip. Most entertaing . . . and at times most informative.

Thanks for the update, aj. I don't know whether you've motivated me or depressed me. :D

I hope you have formed a subchapter S-corp given your level of earning.

I will get there. Back to reading.

If by a subchapter S-corp you mean stashing it all in garbage bags under my bed - then yes, I'm all set!

Kidding... if things keep going well (and consistently well) in another month or two I'll start taking a look down that alley.

A subchapter-S corp is the type of corporation you should form once your profit exceeds $30,000 per year. You really get the most tax benefit that way.

I should also use this disclaimer...

*** Please consult your tax adviser when seeking tax advice ***

There, that will keep the Feds off of me.

There are also some beneficial ways to set up your health and medical insurance. We can get into that later.

I think I may have just hit some pay dirt. I can't wait to get home.

Do you pay less taxes if you form a subchapter S-Corp or whatever the heck you said? I don't see why he can't just report his earnings to the IRS while he files the rest of his taxes. If he does need a business license, why can't he simply apply for an occupational license and claim his taxes through that?

Anyway, let's go back to the thread...

For those interested in adwords, the content network is a goldmine only if you know how to use it. Look for targetted websites you think your potential clients are visiting and advertise on it using some of google's site targetted feature... You can find great places if you know how to look for it.

    Good luck.

my problem with google is that I just don't get any traffic and the QS is an issue as well. Even if I match the minimum bid, I get no impressions. whereas if I'm running the same campaign on yahoo at same bids I'm getting sales.

I've been running a campaign for a year on yahoo and it's been doing alright and I've tried so many different ways to promote on google and I just can't get it to work. they make my min. bids around .30 or .40 some are higher than that so I meet the minimum bids yet no traffic.

For QS most keywords are "ok" hardly any are "great", on Yahoo I send traffic directly to the merchant so on Google I've had landing pages created, professional keyword rich articles based on the keywords that are converting at yahoo. I tried a review site as well, I'm following all the on-page seo, H1 title tags, privacy, terms, about, etc..etc..

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Well, most of the discussion in this thread is about the Google content network. I generate a majority of my revenue from it. QS is not as big as an issue there.
