Actually, I don't think it was my landing page. Everything was going perfectly until I bid on the "ebay" keyword which brought down my CTR significantly. You may have already answered my question but I guess I missed it. Do you use "placement targeted" ads throughout the content network or do you use "keyword targeted" and just set your ads to only appear throughout the content network? Also, do you only promote one affiliate program on all your landing pages or do you diversify between different ringtone programs?

    Greg,

In the beginning I split tested many ringtone programs until I found my good one. When new ones come along I split test them, as well.

I use keyword targeted on Content, although I'm starting to play with Placement.

Does using the content network bring down your chances of getting Google slapped?

It took me almoust 2 days (3h yesterday, 1h today) to read this thread from 1st page to 25th. I took a lot of notes and I think I kind of understand. Please corect me if I'm wrong.

I think the biggest secret here is finding right keywords and second one (not that big) is how to send this traffic from lp1 to lp2or even lp3 that will presell ringtones.

Lets do this in few steps.

    Step #1

This is probably the hardest step. Finding keywords that cost almoust nothing (0.20$ or less) and they also have to be relevant to lp1 (irrelevant kw would cost much more). Lp1 content can be almoust anything. Why keyworks have to be cheap? It's just a matter of math. You said that only 10% of traffic come to ringtones page and you have around 8-1 conversion. Your average cpc is around .08$. That mean that every ringtone page visitor cost you around 0.80$ and with conversion 8-1 that's around 6,40$ per buyer. With revenue 15$+ you can make very nice profit. This is why is important to find cheap kw. You could also bid for ringtones keyword, but bid would cost you easly 2$+ and with conversion 8-1 you wouldn't make profit.

    step #2

This is setting lp that is relevant to keywords but have nothing to do with ringtones. Probably this would have to be some info site and not presell site, cuz kw wouldn't cost much. Let's say that this is that "cat food" site. Let's say that on this site you are writing about what is important when choosing foot or which one is better. Somewhere on this page (or couple times on this page) you have to link to lp2. The best way to link to lp2 would be that this page would me somehow relevant to lp1. For example. When you are writing about "cat food" you could mention in your content something like this: See which cat food "Usher" or "Beyonce" is using and make alink to lp2. Or something like "see cat wallpapers" for mobile or whatever.

    Step #3

Lp2 have to be relevent to ringtones. This could be article/site about some very "hip" singer or more of them, billboard, mobile wallpapers or mobile accessorys... Let's say you choose some artist. You can ad ringtones banner or contextual link that you include somewhere on page.

    Step #4

This would choosing right ringtone supplier.

I think that this method could be used for almoust all products. It would be smart that you would sell stuff that have revenue share 10$+ and is not expensive.

What do you all think about this theory? AJ22 am I close? By the way, congrats man and thanke you for sharing info. You gave us recipe, but we need to find our own spices.

Well, on the Content Network, there's no Quality Score to worry about. CN is all I use.

What's the secret to getting tons of visitors? And what makes the content network different than advertising through Adsense?

Good recap of what I offered, and who knows, maybe you are close to your own method of doing this. Like you said, I'm like Emeril, I gave you the recipe, you need to out and find the spices so that you can

    BAM

    BAM

    BAM!!!

You see, this is what people should be saying on here. Not hey man what's your secret and NOT flooding Aj's pm box with PM's like this. AJ has put so much time into helping us and explaining things to us on here and we should be very thankful. So all you people who are posting things like TELL ME YOUR SECRET just need to STOP. If you want to have some intelligent discussion then please do. Otherwise do not post or PM GIVE ME YOUR SECRET or anything of that sort. End of rant.

    aj,

    KICK IT UP A NOTCH!

    Pixel,

I think you're on the right track. I appreciate a good note-taker like myself. I am getting writer's cramp after writing down all of the information in this thread, another couple of threads, and an ass-load of posts elsewhere.

It's like reading "War and Peace" only much more interesting and they didn't have computers back then...well maybe they did, but if they did, they were the size of Pawcatuck. ;)

OK, too much caffeine for me today, but then again, I have been staring at this screen since 2pm (4+ hours of note-taking when I SHOULD be working...but I just can't stop).

Still, Pixel, there is a 'magic piece' (or two) of the puzzle missing. Gotta' keep researching.

    greg,

You place your ads on AdWORDS. AdSENSE is what shows up on the website itself. You advertise on AdWords and specify that you want your ad to only appear on the Content Network, which basically puts it on the AdSense ads of OTHER people's websites. Did you really ask how to get traffic to your website? Well, gee, how about PPC? :D

Does Adwords tell you if your campaign isn't running. I started a new Adwords campaign almost two hours ago using strictly the content network and so far I haven't received any statistics. It says that everything is "active" but I'm beginning to question that.

It seems as though a lot of people have a limited understanding of Adwords on this thread.

Google's learning center has an excellent video tutorial on Adwords ... and it's FREE ;) ... watch EVERY video and you'll know more than 95% of most internet marketers.

Didn't realize you were such a newbie, Greg.

Content Network can take up to 4 days to go active, and up to 7-10 days to roll full steam. A lot of this is due to manual editorial "review".

Actually this isn't true. There is a keyword's quality score to rank your ad's position. It's based on the relevance of your ad and keywords to the content site, your ad's performance history on the site and similar sites, and the quality of your ad's landing page.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know this. I thought my CN ads/keywords just really sucked. Ha! I get impatient after a couple of days.

I tried the Placement thing once and waited....and waited...and waited some more. Damn thing never went live so I just deleted it. Guess it didn't get reviewed.

Most of the time ads get reviewed within 48hrs ... if your ads aren't showing after that time period, contact them ;)
