I think the gates are down but the train's not coming, if you know what I mean.

Yes, I read that other thread a while back. I've got a full page of notes on it.

I tried downloading and using that Adwords Editor tool but it wouldn't let me log in to my account for some reason. I do have KE. Man, that thing spits out some serious keywords.

The only ones they're going to let you have are the ones that your website is optimized for. For example, if your website was optimized for the word "flowers", you could get keywords such as flowers, silk flowers, fake flowers, cheap flowers, etc. at an affordable CPC. Anything else and Google will slap you with a high CPC.

Post whatever you think you have now, Greg. First it was one idea, then something else, then something different, then a hypnosis theory, then something with eBay, then something entirely different. I've lost track.

Post all you want, cause at the end of the day I'll still rake in another $2,000 - $3,000 while you are busy wasting your time with crap like this.

Yes, I am aware of how "keyword targeting" works, but thanks for the mini-course.

Well, trial and error will tell all, right? I have a good idea right now and will stick to it.

There you go, Greg! You have an idea that you're going to TEST! This is much better plan then announcing to the world is what you've think you have confirmed I'm doing or trying to arrange an information exchange with me for your latest theory. I'm shocked and impressed!! GO GREG GO!!!

AJ, isn't this method flawed in the sense that you are still bidding against the ringtone guys with the same bids for keywords whether you are selling ringtones or "cat food"?

Basically, you could be selling ringtones just like them and be competing in their arena OR you could be selling "cat food" but having to bid higher (or at least as much) as they are. An ad placement is an ad placement no matter what you are selling. The price of your keywords is dictated by the bids.

    Follow what I am saying?

The idea here is to sell it without selling it on a website that isn't exactly about ringtones.

    Hey,

I do see what you're saying. That example though has nothing to do with my process of driving conversions, it was just really an examination of how I go about discovering unexploited niches (it wasn't the best example either, admitedly). By browsing Adsense blocks you can see what's there, and what would stick out. That's all I was going for. Examining CPC would be the next step, which in the 24 case (trying to get cat food stuff in there) would be tough. But don't you also see a lot of dating ads on Myspace Layouts sites? I sure do.

Yes, but sticking with your example, YOUR dating ad would not appear on a page of MySpace layouts.

To be successful on a page of MySpace layouts, your ad would be about 'secret MySpace tricks' and then, while you have their attention on your own 'MySpace tricks' page, you would hit them with a strategically placed 'dating' banner ad.

Then, hopefully, one out of the 100 people that visit your 'MySpace tricks' site would also sign up for the 'dating' offer.

I'm not prying about your page or tactic, specifically. There is simply a piece of the overall puzzle that remains unseen.

What would make someone want to sign up for a dating offer on a MySpace site? Those two things must somehow be related. Perhaps someone is creating a MySpace page because they are hoping to meet more people...because they're lonely...because they just broke up with their boyfriend / girlfriend. It's a natural fit.

What makes someone want to BUY something? There is an overall emptiness that they are trying to fill.

Now it's time to figure out how to translate this to the subject at hand.

Very specific, unpopular niche = cheap clicks. Push the right button within those 'cheap click' customers to make them want to BUY something else while they're here.

If you look closely enough, you can see the smoke coming from my brain.

    M
