Hello everyone. I just ran a small ad campaign on the Feedburner Ad Network at Feedburner.com and I wanted to tell you all about my experience, in case anyone is wondering about this medium. Here's my review:

I placed my music-related ad on the Feedburner Ad Network for 8 days, to receive 10,000 impressions evenly throughout the week. I paid $3 per 1,000 impressions, for a total of $30.

The way the Feedburner Ad Network works is it displays your ad on the web sites and in the feeds of the publishers related to your category (again, mine was Music).

All in all, I would consider my campaign a failure, since I only received 77 actual visitors to my web site out of the 10,000 that were shown my ad. And out of those 77 visitors, only 2 clicked my Adsense ads, which usually receive a CTR of between 5-8% on my site.

That's NOT to say, however, that the Feedburner Ad Network wouldn't be a success for other advertisers.

To give you a little perspective, though, I don't think it was that I wrote a terrible ad. I think I can write a fairly decent ad. On Google Adwords, most of my ad campaigns have a 3-7% CTR. The problem may have been that my particular web site topic was not of interest to the visitors who saw my ad (i.e. traffic was not targetted enough).

My ad received 2,417 impressions on the network of sites and only 19 clicks, for a CTR of 0.786%. On the network of feeds, my ad received 7,583 impressions, and just 58 clicks, for a CTR of 0.765%.

I asked Feedburner support whether it is possible to choose to display your ad ONLY on the sites, or ONLY on the feeds. They said that at this time, that feature is not available, but they are working on it for the future.

Hope this short review is helpful to someone. Take care. :)

    ~Chris

and as a feedburner publisher, I find their inventory of ads to be inconsistent, but their CPM rates are decent.
