    Turn off the cron job that runs almost non stop, you can do this from the admin panel and you can manually run them whenever you like. There's no need to run this stuff every 10 minutes.

    Remove 80% of the database calls from your template.

    Do both of those things and phpizabi runs like any other site.

    Has anyone considered using Facebook's script
    ? It is open source as well. I downloaded it but at first glance they were using terms I am not familiar with yet so there is going to be a bit of a learning curve.

    Something like Facebook is exactly what I am looking for.

    If anyone has had any luck, let us know.

    My two cents - check out the user reviews on dolphin on below site (if you contest them , feel free to add your own).

    From what i'm hearing, socialengine and dzoic are getting good reviews in most places.
