Hello, After reading many posts from this forum about submitting to social bookmarking sites. I got some knowledge about whether to submit to any specific social bookmarking site or not. My concept may be wrong so I do need your advice on this. For example: 1. mixx.com/ 2. digg.com/ They are good because they let you to submit your blog directly. After submiting my new article to these sites, I can see my links are indexed on Google just a few days. The other types of social bookmarking sites that make you to download or install, add favorites such as: 1. bloglines.com/ 2. squidoo.com/ Many people recommend them but I do not see them to be useful when I submit my blogging articles. Or, I may not have a thourough knowledge of how to use them. Any idea is appreciated. Thanks for reading.
I haven't used mixx.com . Does it provide any link juice benefits? digg no longer does, well not directly anyway, due to their new short URL system.
Unless your site gets on the top pages of the social bookmarking sites they aren't all that special. I just did social bookmarking to get that quality backlink for long term SEO.
I think Digg is great, I use it to get my site indexed very quickly. Digg links can rank quite well if you select the right keywords.
Many people tell their own success at this different social bookmarking sites. Most of them had really great and interesting topic that captures people there, plus a good network of friends.
My experience is different. For a newly established site, Digg is good for quick indexing by search engines, but once crawlers pick up, there is no need for submission. It can actually hurt. A few times I notice the digg posts rank higher than my original post, something I dislike. In addition, each bookmarking site has a certain clientele, if I may use that term. For example, computer, internet, etc sites are good for reddit. Cultural ones are for mixx. I usually do not submit my posts to any of them for 3-4 days after writing my posts.
Two of my recommendation, and these two gives good backlinks to your blog if you know how to utilize your post tags. 1) Technorati 2) Mybloglog
i haven't found digg to have good results for new websites. stumbleupon provides better & more visitors in my experience.
I only submit for back links, I don't really gain any traffic from these social bookmarking websites - I recieve one or two clicks maybe, but nothing more, people who get on the first page of Digg etc will recieve huge amounts of traffic.
