I have an egold games website and 4 days ago my account was hacked.
I didn't lost very much.. $7 - but that is money no?
I have the name of the hacker: Julia Carney (I bet this is fiction because is the name of a writer) and his egold account number 3119403
    What shall I do next?

I lost only $7, but there may be other people who loose hundreds or more - and it seems that this person's egold no. is already blacklisted on some websites
I was just reading a story about a guy who lost $150...

how was it hacked? e-gold has better security than the most, it will send your mail pin code if your browser change, or you ip change. Do you have any idea how it was "hacked"? and how do you know the name of the hacker?

This is one thing that really disturbed me about e-gold when I first looked into it. They appear to be under absolutely no regulation whatsoever. No dispute mechanism for transaction fraud or anything at all. They don't need ID from anyone who signs up either. I am wondering what would happen if you had $100,000 in e-gold, nobody would care enough to look into it?

what troubles you is what has made it popular. It's more like cash, than like, uncle sam sees you. That's also why they are experiencing great trouble right now. The firms using e-gold is operating by reputation and accredition as the unregulated nature brings many fraud cases. In fact if you search on google to just buy egold and dont know anything you are very likely to end up at the website of thousand scammers. Now the government has started to arrest the good gexchangers operating the sites who do have reputation of being honest, for not having bank license, at the same time that they don't give e-gold ability to register as a currency and be seen as money. A controvercy that is going to court.

You have to be careful when you receive a fake email contest or anything connected to egold which is fake.Once you try to put your login details you are finished. So be careful of money making websites or concepts which you get involved with. You must do your own research before taking part in money making plans etc.Otherwise you will have to face the music in the form of your egold account being hacked.

Some other money exchangers were restricted or closed for that, I guess it's e-gold's time... (Stormpay, and so on).
It spreads like cancer and this has to stop, you can see e-gold taking over good paying systems such as PayPal on merchants pages and this is ridiculous. PayPal operates on the same environment and I have no suspicious transactions ever since I started, long time ago and they don't have such a burden security crap...
Here is more of the official e-gold lame excuse...

"Please note the e-mail address below is not the e-mail address listed to
your account (we are replying to the e-mail address listed to your account).
If you did not provide the address below this could indicate that you have a
trojan virus or some other malicious software on your computer."

And either this was crap cause I have already submitted the ticket the way they wanted below, either what follows is crap :

"You may want to consider book marking the e-gold IP address versus the URL
as your e-gold bookmark and only access it via your bookmark. The IP to
bookmark is https://209.200.169.10. The reason for doing this is there are
viruses that plant fake entries in the host file which windows then uses
instead of the correct IP address for the site. Using the e-gold IP address
versus the URL will bypass this type of Trojan. Also, never access your
e-gold account via an email message even if the message appears to come from
    e-gold.

Please run a complete virus scan on your computer and let us know the
    results.

Unfortunately your account was vulnerable because the security feature
(AccSent) was disabled on 7/24/06 from remoteip address '24.42.xx.xx'. The
unauthorized transaction was made from remoteip address '72.9.90.232'. We
strongly recommend e-gold account users do not disable AccSent. AccSent
monitors account access attempts and issues a one-time PIN challenge to
those coming from IP address ranges or browsers that differ from the last
authorized account access. If AccSent had been enabled, the person would
have been prevented from accessing your e-gold account unless they had the
password to your email account. If you are not the person who disabled
AccSent, it confirms you either have a security hole in your computer, which
allowed hackers to take control of your computer or you have malicious
    software installed on your computer.

Have you received any emails within the past few weeks, which appeared to
come from e-gold requesting that you log into your account? Did the email
contain a link or an attachment? Did you attempt to open the attachment?
Did you click on the link or attempt to access your account from a link in
this email? It is also possible that malicious software was installed on
your computer if you visited certain high yield investment program websites.
Some websites attempt to run an active X script when visited. This script
checks your computer for vulnerabilities and downloads malicious software.

Have you run a complete virus scan of all computers used to access your
account with updated anti-virus software? You should also check your
computer for Spyware and Trojan keyloggers. Some people mistakenly assume
that anti-virus software protects them from keyloggers and Spyware. Most
anti-virus software does not adequately check for keyloggers and Spyware.
If you have checked all the computers used to access your account with only
an anti virus software, we strongly recommend you use a software that
specifically checks for Spyware and keyloggers.

As of today we know specifically of 7 viruses that could cause a problem
similar to the one you are having.

    1. Win32/Goldun.ia (One customer said he did not find anything when he ran
Norton and McAfee anti-virus software, but he found the Win32/Goldun.ia
Trojan when he used a software called 'Kaspersky')

    2. T SPY_HAXDORY (A customer who was receiving the fake login confirmation
page located a virus with Trend Micro Housecall identified as T SPY_HAXDORY.
Removing this seemed to solve the problem without having to reinstall
    windows.)

    3. TROJ_GOLDUN.DO which has a file named CPU.EXE found in the c:\windows
directory. This was found with Trend Micro's PC-cillin.

    4. cpu.exe (Aladinz.l Trojan) more information regarding this virus can be
    found at http://www.auditmypc.com/process/cpu.asp

    5. GDIWXP.DLL

    6. pwsteal.trojan

    7. Win32.Grams.I which monitors Internet Explorer windows until the user
visits the e-gold login page: e-gold.com/acct/login.html. Once the user is
logged in Grams opens a hidden Internet Explorer window in which it accesses
    the user's account balance: e-gold.com/acct/balance.asp

Most viruses are conveyed by spammed e-mail in the form of HTML messages.
The scripts run on viewing, no clicking on attachments is necessary. They
may also arrive as image attachments. Once the image is viewed, the program
is executed. Either way, the system is now infected and is just waiting for
you to check your e-gold account balance.

    You can protect yourself by:

    * Using another browser instead of Internet Explorer (IE). Firefox by
Mozilla is an excellent choice. You can visit www.mozilla.org for more
    information.
    * Do Not auto-preview incoming e-mail.
    * Do Not open obvious spam.
    * Do run a full virus scan regularly.

We investigated and placed a value limit on account #xxxxxx to prevent it
from receiving additional funds. However, regrettably we are unable to
refund your money because e-gold Ltd. (e-gold) is contractually prohibited
from freezing e-gold accounts or releasing e-gold account records in the
absence of a court order or subpoena nor the e-gold system does not allow
for the reversal of payments. You might want to consider obtaining some
combination of help from a legal professional or law enforcement to obtain a
court order, if the size of your loss warrants expenditure of your resources
    (time and money) to resolve.

The court order/subpoena should be presented by fax to:

    e-gold, Ltd.
    c/o Andrew S. Ittleman, Esq.
    1001 Brickell Bay Drive
    Suite 2002
    Miami, FL 33131
    Facsimile: (305) 371-8989

If you are able to receive the records electronically please specify the
appropriate email address the records should be emailed to. Please allow a
minimum of 2 weeks for the production of any e-gold records.

In order to ensure you get all pertinent information when issuing the court
order or subpoena to e-gold Ltd please:

    - Ask for e-gold account profile information for account number #930720
    - Ask for transaction history information for account number #930720
    - Ask for information on any other accounts owned or controlled by the
    individual
    - Ask for counteraccount_id profile information. This is the account
profile information for any accounts that made payments into or received
    payments from the subpoenaed account
    - If applicable, ask for stabilization of the funds in question "freezing of
the account if the funds are still under the control of the perpetrator"

    Regards,
    e-gold Abuse "

Thanks Andrew but no thanks. It's time for you to take some action or say bye-bye. Not to mention that person at the IP '72.9.90.232' is a legal criminal. This world is still governed by laws and you are way beyond! It's like you say the murderer lives there, we borrowed him the gun but you have to sue him first.
