I have recently recovered from a serious addiction I had that I couldn't overcome. That addiction was to CAFFIENE No but seriously it got the point where if I didn't have caffiene at some point in a day, I'd get migraines that day or the next...But now it's all lemonade and orange juice for me... It's kinda random but has anyone experienced this with caffiene before?
my old roommate used to be fairly sensitive to it...and then in the morning sometimes after heavy drinking the night before he would have some ginko biobla, which made the mornings extra not fun.
I used to drink 2/3 cans of Coke/suitable substitute while in college. It took me a while to wean myself off it after school. Now I drink about once a week, maybe twice a month, and it just doesn't have quite the same "kick" that it once did... Strange. Of course now I guzzle Red Bull like a bastard, and they're way more expensive than coke...
I currently have this problem. It's a computer programmer's disease because we frequently drink a lot of caffeine to deal with late night debugging/working sessions. I've kicked it before and I'll kick it again. Two or three days of cold turkey and it usually goes away for me, but that's usually accompanied by a better than usual diet and some excercise because when I kick the habit it's usually because I'm thinking about my health. Strangely, I can drink coke like it's nobody's business, but I can't handle coffee. It gives me the shakes.
Coffee contains not only caffine, but the stimulants theophylline and theobromine which you could be reacting to.
I started drinking coffee when I reached twenty that was when I was already in college. After a coffee at the house. I still drink coffee at the school cafeteria then. One at around 11-11:30 and 2-3:30 in the afternoon. I feel like my day won't be complete if I can't have 5 cups of coffee a day.
I find I can't work in a concentrated and efficient manner if I don't have a large bottle of Coke nearby, so yes, I'm definitely addicted. Of course, it would hardly be anything to worry about, except that drinking 2-3 liters of Diet Coke every day means a large daily dosage of aspartame as well. Oh well, live fast, die young
Except it would probably not be a nice quick death to cut you off in your prime, but something slow and nasty to do with your nervous system. GOD, I'm a cheery soul today!
True enough ...perhaps a home-brewed drink with mixed-in caffeine tablets is worth considering at some point
I drink two red bulls and two cokes (or sometimes a two liter) every day. But I can quit whenever I feel like it.
The people in my office are addicted to coffee, especially the graphic designer. They all shuffle around like zombies until have a few cups in them. Strangely enough, all tea/coffee/coke/red bull does to me is act like a diuretic, I don't particularly get a buzz from it at all. However, I am addicted to sugary food (much to the horror of my GP, but not my dentist ) anyone else here have a similar problem of coffee/etc making you have to go to the toilet very regularly?
I am tired if I drink coffee or not, I choose not to. I find that what I drink coffee in the morning, later that day i start to shake and have a nasty taste in my mouth. Natures way of telling me coffee is bad.
My husband used to work with a girl who went through at least a 24 pack of Pepsi each and every day. She tried to quit cold turkey and got serious jitters. Her doctor told her it would take a long time to break the habit, and she was better off doing it slowly. I drank a lot of soda in college, but not lately.
Lets see...2 coffee's before I leave in the AM...one more during my 5 minute commute. Another around 10am....normally a can of coke w. lunch...and then 2 coffees after dinner. Non work day...2 in the am...and two after dinner
