My DP Profile shows PR 3

Alright, I did some SEO work to try and get PR to my profile: Jquindlen's Profile and after the last update my toolbar is showing PR of 3. Most datacenters have it as a 3 as well, although a few have it at zero still. I've looked at other profiles, and I see most n00bs have a 0 PR, while some people with more posts than me have a profile at 0 or 1.

Now I understand that toolbar PR can be completely wrong when it comes to dynamic pages, such as my gmail account which has a PR of 8. The thing is, everyone's gmail has a PR of 8, but not everyone's DP profile has a PR of 3. This leads me to believe that my profile is a legitmate PR3. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php itself has no PR, so it can't be pulling it from that page. In addition, it doesn't carry over the PR from previous pages, it's just a straight up PR3.

What do you folks think? Care to elaborate?

Not to rain on your parade here - but why would you possibly work on improving a DP pages PR (no offense to DP..)? And furthermore, gmail is owned by Google. I'm somehow thinking they are slightly biased in the PR game..

That is so true...hence the reason why
    PR shouldn't be the
    key focus.

Here, totally at sea as they say.
Why worry or try to get a profile page with high pr?
Does that mean that if someone is searching google for profiles in dp (god knows why) they will be listed higher if a higher pr?
Does that mean with a profile page of high pr, one makes more money?

Okay, back to my sites that need some work to get more traffic (I said traffic, not pr, as pr has yet to be proven to give one traffic).

The SEO work I did consisted of merely linking to my profile with decent anchor text on sites I already owned (this took me a total of about 10 seconds, and then I promptly forgot all about it until I looked at my profile today.) While I'm not going to argue the merits of PR (if you're in the business of selling links you already know the monetary value that PR has) I do enjoy passing PR onto the sites that are in my signature (and thus in profile.) I'd also rather get free PR3 backlinks from my profile, than pay someone else a couple of bucks a month for a PR3 backlink.

iBold, you missed my point entirely on the gmail thing. What I was trying to illustrate was the fact that toolbar PR can be very innaccurate, especially when it comes to dynamic pages. There's no way in hell that one of my emails that I just received has a real PR of 8. The PR 8 in gmail comes from the root domain and not the actual page that you're on, which is the root of one of my questions: is the dp profile page PR legitimate?

My profile page has PR 3, too. The links on profile pages are text links, so maybe profile links will get a slightly higher ranking because of it.

In other news, I heard Text Link Ads is in secret talks with DP about allowing DP members to sell TLA ads on their profiles pages :p . According to TLA's link calculator, a text link on my profile is worth $86/month before the 50% cut!

The Google results for Sleepy_Sentry bring up DP first.

The profile of anyone with a decent ammount of posts will get PR, each time you post there's a link pointing to your profile (your avatar). Nothing strange here.

Everybody here some PR or the other. 2's and 3's are the most popular ones and certain members even have a 4/5.
    Helps in siggy sales :)

Your profile page is linked from every post you make so thats where it gets its pr from.

When I will make this post if you click on my id you will see a link saying view smfseo's profile and thats the reason my profile will get a bit of PR passed on from every thread I have posted in.

    Makes sense?
