okay my PR2 domain expired a while ago and was hoping to renew it but it was too late and godaddy would charge me $80 to get it back.. so I didn't so after it was deleted from my account I noticed there is a shitty site running on my old domain. I checked in whois and the domain is owned by http://leasedomains.com/ How did they find out my old domain was expired??? Kinda lame they kinda steal it.
That's not lame and they didn't steal at all. You have no right on your domain anymore. You should've renewed it when you had time.
Leet. I expected comments like yours. However, wouldn;t you feel the same if this happened to you? Sure I feel stupid that i didnt renew it when I had time but since my blog wasn't that popular I never thought someone would buy it. I agree "steal" is not a good word for this but I feel cheated. Yes! The blog had PR of 2, but only sites in non-english linked to my blog. Now I have learnt from this and shall renew my domains before they expire..
I would like to warn people that people are aware of the status of your domains so don't let your good domains expire for them.
They have to do this..... as this is their RIGHT... according to law they can auction it after expire.... if they hold the domain... & probably they might have done this only....
They will probably sell it back to you for a small profit if you really want it back. Just have to take this on the chin and learn from it. It mat come back automatically as well though I'm not sure why but when i first applied for the domain newpbc.com it was available but there was a problem with payment processing so i had to wait a day or two for funds to clear on another card when i came back and tried to purchase it one it was gone whois showed a company like you mentioned had bought it for a year. A few months later when i was registering some other new domains i put it in just to test and it was available again so i now own it. As i say I've no idea why this worked but it did strange
A lot of people hate what others do. It happens every day. Learn from your experience. The sooner you move on, the sooner you'll likely be better, stronger and wiser.
i cant understand how some people see that their domain is expiring and dont reniew it.I know that some may forgot that expiring but if you knew it that expires is only your fault!
You can also try this just keep a some balance in your account of domain control panel and keep your domain on auto-renew so as your domain is getting expired... this will automatically renewed... Hope... to get this work for you.... by this method...
Dude, they didn't do anything to you. You did it to yourself. Welcome to the big boys world of the internet. There are THOUSANDS of "webmasters" and domain investors waiting for Millions of domains to drop at any given time. there is software application created just to monitor domains status, there are companies that do nothing but supply information on the status of domains about to drop. Domains of any substance are all registered, the only way to get one without paying reseller prices is to luck up on someone else's ignorance. The dropped domain industry is the internet flea market of today. No one is going to sit back and wait for you. People are trying to make money out here. While the truth is most of them won't, they are still saturating the market and scrambling for a grasp of anything that may have the slightest chance of being a needle in a haystack. Imagine walking into a fair ground full of people, and getting on the P.A. system, and announcing that you have lost a $100 bill by the bumper cars. Most of the people at that fair will go over in that area, hoping to luck up and come across that $100 bill. Now multiply that by 5-10 million, and make it a $50 bill. That is business on web. Welcome to it You are mad for no reason. Now you know where you are playing, and the rules of the game, and it will never happen to you again. Lesson learned.
That's all part of the game and its completely legal, there are a thousand resources for finding a domain that is expiring. All you can do is learn from your mistakes and not let your websites expire for now on. You also made the choice your domain wasn't worth 80 bucks so, if the site wasn't worth 80 bucks that is pretty much worthless.
I know what you mean. When I first got into this years ago I let 2 domains expire and now they are pretty big sites. One was a 3 letter domain name which I am sure would be worth money. I don't feel cheated but it is tough to see someone else using your domain name. It would be like you leaving the country and when you come back someone else is living in your house.
Yes, alteast you wont make the same mistake again I got to learn a lesson too without suffering your consequneces...
