My directory question???

I just purchased a directory from someone. It was a free directory the entire time and i just changed it. It is now $1 for each link and $10 for featured. It has 12,000 links, is that to many? If so, what should i do.

I can post the directory if needed.

    Thanks
    Brandon

12000 listings is only too many if it is filled with spam sites.

If they are quality sites without keyword spam and with unique descriptions it should be fine. Though people will differ on what they view as quality.

    1. you bought a directory
    2. you are asking us if it's worth it to take care of it?

c'mon man.... Am I really reading this thread correctly ?

no you are not. My question is, should i go through all the 12,000 links or do i expect that the last owner ran it well. I go through every single link that is requested, but i can't help the first 12,000 links.

Its your directory so its up to you what you do with it, can you think of any types of sites that you dont want in it, do a seach of the links within admin of your directory for keywords that may show sites you may not want.

Its purely your option, do you have time? are you content with whats already in place?

Ok I did a few searches on the directory in your signature as I assume that is the one your talking about.

    Here - Here - Here - Here

If it were my directory - (no way I would have bought it though) I would understand there is obviously a MASSIVE amount of clean up that needs to be done on those listings. Until you do the directory is not worth paying for a review to be in imo.

    Here's my take on it:

It's PHPLD 3.3 so as long as it came with a license there is value. According to my Alexa toolbar the traffic isn't bad. I'd have to know what you paid for it for it to be worth it. If the directory is overrun with crap sites, why not go to you database and wipe out all the links that aren't featured and pretty much start over?
