Hi there, I had exchanged link and submit site to free or paid directories and when I see stats, it looks nice for 2 months old site. about 700 + per day. However the fact about my site traffics are 85% are bots (Google, msn, slurp, ask, gigabot and many many bots from japan and china, korea, italy, france and many more) 10% is user who want to submit their site to my directory. 5% is users came from search engine results from my accidental keywords, some arre from my main keywords but msn not google. The question is how to boost real traffics to my site. Any suggestion?? thanks
Unfortunately, the only way to make money from directories is to charge for listings. No one is going to go to directories to search for information, not even DMOZ.
My suggestion is to tack on a blog or write some articles related to your industry and post them on your website. You are up against some well established competition in reals.com, ired.com and others. Work on getting backlinks to your website (which I have seen you doing). You may want to offer a reciprocal option where people link to your category pages instead of your homepage where you provide different anchor text and description on a per category basis. This will get you backlinks with a wide variety of keywords rather than a single link profile with the same anchor text and description on website after website. Linking to an internal page should still offer you a full pr boost from your backlinks with extra emphasis on that particular category page trickling down to your main page if you have your directory linked properly. Getting links to internal pages is harder to do but you have an advantage by offering a service to get the preferred backlink and anchor text of your choice....
