I think many have faced this problem. Directory submission scripts and other manual service providers have already spammed my 10 directories. They can see those are paid but to fulfill their quota of 200/300/500 or more they are submitting sites continuously. It's really very tiring job to clean those spam submission. One day I had to delete 124 sites. Just think 124 sites in one day !!! I think others may have same experience.
Yes these bastards are all over the net, you have to try block the IP's they use I say IP's as these scum use multiple sources to spam
yeah ive been there aswell m8 , it's not nice sitting deleting all those sites ban the ip if you can or ban email may help for a while
I use image verification still they don't stop. Yes I think banning ip is a solution. I use phplinkdirectory like 99% other users.
One of spammers keeps submitting a domain which has been deleted for abuse. They don't have a brain apparently..
They don't understand that we may complain about that domain who have hired that directory submitter or submitter software. It's clear abuse.
"Yes these bastards are all over the net." LOLOLOL very true, the SPAM comes with the territory if you think your life is bad imagine the free directories.
I've got a list of almost 3,000 IP addresses I've banned if anyone is interested. I still get lots of spam though
I think that's good evidence that banning IPs isn't the best approach, at least on its own. The trouble with doing this is that you could get plenty of false positives, from people who use dynamic IPs, or even static IPs from computers that get used by lots of different people (eg in an internet cafe). You need to employ a better captcha, ban domains, and use word filters if your directory is in any way niche.
