Alright am not really that stupid (or maybe I am) but I accidentally plugged my desktop computer to 220v! It's 110v. So rational thing would happen --- explode. I know I can just change the Power Supply Unit but what are my chances that I also did fry other components of the computer? I'm 'almost' certain that I can just change the power supply but I can't seem to have peace of mind on this. I won't be able to buy a brand new PSU till tomorrow and be able to test it out. Shed me some light over here!
Also, I might have a problem looking for a PSU at 110V where I live now can I use a 220v PSU instead? Is it safe to switch a 110v PSU to 220v? (also solve my problem of accidentally plugging it on the wrong outlet.)
I'm guessing that you've probably only blown up your PSU. Yes, a 220+v PSU will work fine. You can also buy PSUs that will switch between 110 & 220/240. All PSUs convert down to a 'happy' voltage for the peripherals in your computer.
Thanks for that. "Guessing"? So maybe like 5% less likely that I fried other stuff up? I need some statistics here I am not able to sleep tonight! lol.
what do you mean your desktop "explode"? Is it just the monitor or the whole box with everything inside(motherboard, RAMs, hard drives, etc)?
Don't put it too much at heart. It's a just title trying to catch attention. Read the body. I mentioned the PSU. Once you're done, re-read. Then again. Then once more. Then for the last time.
You may try to clean ip your desktop, too much things on the desktop will destroy your desktop, specially the invalid shortcuts and duplicate files. Â
