My Dad spent a few thousand dollars (his last few thousand) trying to make it on the internet and thinks the whole Internet Game is a Scam! His words were "The only people making money on the Internet are those selling information on how to make money on the internet" I would like to challenge any one who reads this to prove my Dad wrong. I for one make money selling wildlife figurines but it's not going to enable me to retire. I also have my traders universe site and this is aimed at trading of course. This is not enough for my Dad, he is still not convinced. So I'd like to have a poll for those that have made money on the internet. Have you made it from showing others how to make money on the internet, or have you made it from a completely different angle. If you've made money from both, then answer with the one that has made you the most.
Which area does your Dad want to be successful in? Adwords, Adsense, eBay..? I mus admit Adsense and eBay will take alot of delication and time be4 it become successful. For Adwords. Its just a matter of skill. I will not provide affiliate link I currently bought a new Adwords product which was jus launched yesterday. Maybe you can check that out. I haven finish reading it but I can see that the techniques shown there is new and powerful for an affiliate marketer. The name of the product is Affiliate "Project X". Search it using your favourite SE.
I think some people have the idea that the gimmicks are more likely to work online then they do in other forms. With the investment of time, money, blood, sweat, and tears, I am able to make a decent living. It's no different then any other business.
the only way those 'showing others how to make money' make there money is because people keep buying into it.. if their idea made so much money, they wouldn't be selling it for $XX.xx each. Duh?
In any field where you can make money there are going to be scam artists with get rich quick schemes. If those are the types of products your dad bought I can see your dad thinking the internet is a scam. It takes the same characteristics to be succesful on the internet as any other field.
Just out of curiosity, would Perry Marshall be an authority on making money online? What about Joel Comm?
What? hehehe. I have made a few bucks from the internet, helping people with their businesses. I guess that's just it.
I don't want people to get the wrong idea, that making money from helping other's make money on the internet is wrong. What I want my Dad to understand is that people do make money from other ideas other than just selling 'how to build a profitable internet business' I mean hell, I do both!!!
Last week I helped my Dad set up a Hotmail account for himself. When I asked him what address he'd like he replied: 'I won't be able to remember it, so just give me the same address as your mother.' Two hours later and I finally managed to drag him kicking and screaming into the mid-90s. The moral of the story is that the over-50s shouldn't be allowed within a mile of the Internet. It's for their own good.
That is a gross generalization. Even on this board there are people in that age group who I would be ecstatic to know half of what they know about internet related subjects such as site design and internet marketing.
I make all my money selling patented "Internet Protection Gear", to people who think the internet is a scam. I am a bajillionaire from it.
OK, I'll modify that. My parents and my crazy aunt should be kept away from the Internet. I swear they'll accidentally break it
making money online isn't easy, it doesn't happen overnight, and buying a single ebook isn't going to get you there. that being said, you can make a lot of money if you get really into this and invest your time (or money) into it. I'm 20. I never went to high school. I was making over 100,000$ a year by the time I was 18 and it's only gone up since then. I've never paid anyone to teach me how to make money online. I did, however, put a lot of work into my websites. hard work pays off, online or off. online, however, there's generally less financial risk (if you do things right-- step buying ebooks, don't pay for things you don't need or can't afford, and don't pay for things you aren't sure will give you an ROI unless you can stomach some losses in the start) and potentially much, much more reward.
Seeing as he is your dad, he should of started any kind of site in the 90s and hed be getting crazy money just by selling content links. This is based on the assumption that all old sites have PR6+ . Anyway the internet has a lot of money still to be made, people that are afraid to take chances and invest, and for that matter of fact work hard, will not make anything worthwhile.
I had to laugh!!! I looked at this post before logging in and right below the initial post was eight 8 !!!!! Google Ads ALL ADVERTISING MAKE MONEY FROM HOME!!! I wish I had a way to show my Dad that there and then. Ooooh life can be cruel for some
