My CTR Sucks!!! Can Anybody help?

My CTR is around .55 percent, and I can't find out what I am doing wrong. I am using the recommended ad unit at the top of my articles, and soccer is a good niche for adsense.

Here's an example of a page with adsense

Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve my click-through rate?

I must tell you that your CTR is not that bad, It could be worse!

Move the top rectangle a little bit to the right... Just a little bit. And add another adunit under posts.
    Wait for a result.

    1. Try making links blue.
    2. wait for the result again.
    3. Compare results.

    Own a vision.

Hm, should I put the unit in the center?

Green seems to convert better than blue for me.

I had one under the post, but got no clicks. I am going to have a newsletter sign-up instead.

Any more tips? So why is my CTR not very good if I'm doing most things right?

Here some tips to increase your CTR.
1-Improve your Ads by blending them into your content as well as make them attractive.
2-Target the keywords in order the show relevant ads to your content.
3-THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND THE ONE THAT NO ONE KEEP IN MIND:
Make a keyword research on Adwords Keyword Tool to find which keywords have the most competence. The most competence the better paid.
AND MOST IMPORTANT DO SEO FOR THOSE KEYWORDS. if you want your visitors click your ads you must first have such interested visitors, make the keyword research for those keywords :
For example if your site is about "acne" find keywords that may lead visitors to buy some product i.e. "acne product results". In this way you may receive targeted visitors interested in your ads as well as they might buy something from the advertisers.

use easy adsenser plugin in wordpress,

It ads placement hit the most crucial part in content. your jobs just need to make the link/text color of adsense link blended with your content. and try tweaking that easy adsense tru various format.

see "adsense heat map" for ad placement. Secondly, do some optimization. For example for week one, put ads in contrast to your theme and for next week puts ads which merge with your theme. Then you will know what works best for you. Hope it helps

Looks like your ads are not to the point. You need to think how to optimize (SEO) your text, headers etc. I did not view the HTML though. I only see that your first item in Adsense is about software, not soccer.

I visited your site and noticed that your top ad is way to the left. Try moving it or centering it a little more.

Also move the banner ad on the left to the right. And up a bit. I feel that most people that are visiting the sites will be more prone to click the ads if they see them right away. Also try optimizing the ads. The ones I seen had nothing to do with soccer.
