No it is not good you can try some better ctr

place your ad formates always top of your page

Unfortunately, its pretty bad, and I speak with experience. My CTR 2.61% :(

They say 5-7% is the best range to be in! I'm trying to improve it myself

It completely depends!! I am so tired of people giving completely 'objective advice' on a subjective matter! Some sites would literally kill for 2.5% CTR and some sites receive a 15% CTR every day. It depends on several factors:

    1. Ad Placement
    2. Gravity/Quality of products being advertised (advertiser stock)
    3. Loyalty of visitors
    4. Niche
    5. Ad-type (Image, video, text, link etc)
    6. ....

If you want 'target advice' you should post your URL and ask a serious/detailed question!

    My 2 cents

I would say it is low. It depends on the site.

You should experiment with ad placement.

I have an information site that earns very well with a CTR that is lower than that (but well paying clicks). Other sites I have would be ready for the trash heap with a low CTR and low click values. It really depends on the site, the traffic, the value per click and more.

If you let people tell you that 2%-8% is OK then I hope you have a plan to get a lot of traffic to make up the difference that a higher CTR would give you. With such a low CTR, it means your visitors either are not seeing your ads, or are not interested in them. Both problems can be fixed so that you don't have to accept a low CTR.

I wouldn't say its that bad. Well it could be worse..You can defintely get it higher but I would say its about average.

CTR means click thru rate, it describes the percentage of clicks on your ads..
