you should be able to find a prog to monitor the temp for you and I'm sure the more sophisticated the prog the more options it'll give you as far as the alarms are concerned.

Is 90c dangerous for a laptop? I don't actually know.

I can't imagine that being a good thing or even normal but I'm not sure if LT's run much hotter than DT's.

what' the CPU though? I think for the most part < = 60 would be preferred.

Do you have a Gigabyte motherboard? I used to gel readings of around 70 degrees C, then I read somewhere that there is a fault with some BIOS settings or something, and that the motherboard over-exaggerates the temperature by about 10-15 degrees.

What you need to do is go and buy some compressed air and clean the inside of your computer out, also check to make sure you don't have any spyware/malware running, they can hog the CPU and cause it to max out. When I had this problem, I replaced my PSU and it fixed it....(PSU was overheating).

I am with talkfreelance. Spyare or malware can hog the CPU, kill the pc resources and your processor will be overheat. Therefore, i would suggest scan your pc with antivirus/antispyware first before you proceed further with hardware upgrading.
