I agree with the Microsoft Security Essentials. I have been using it for about 10 months now, (Left McAfee) and have NO regrets. It will do almost anything that the expensive technicians will do, and it's FREE!!!

Wow. Tough crowd here. Have guys actually removed viruses this way?? I always start with Hijack This, idendify what I have by googling 'suspicious entries' then following the advice in forums that are geared to this. In my experience, using ANY ONE antivirus will not work once your computer is hit. At all.

the best succsess i had using norton in combination with microsoft ess. , spybot s&d, malwarebytes and hijack this for the nasty stuff.
ccleaner is ok but there are better registry cleaners.

to the guy mentioned that a mac has no viruses, theres java coded malware aswell.

to run software you dont trust use a sandbox!

    regards,

If there were no virus then there would be no need for anti-virus and the companies who sell anti-virus programs. I wonder who writes and sends out most of the malicious software and nasty bugs?

ctrl+shift+esc, look for any processes that aren't normally there, right click and choose "end process tree" then go into your program files and see if there is anything that shouldn't be there, if there is, remove it.

Depending on who your internet service provider is, you might be able to download Norton Anti-virus for free. Who serves your internet?
