Well, there are several programs that will clean up unused files on your pc. But in general you should consider reformatting or installing more RAM.

Clean everything or just re-install. Extra RAM would also help. You can alao try Tweak UI and CCleaner.

Try to defrag it. If it's still slow backup your files and reformat it.

For firefox back up simply copy this folder from below location and install firefox again.

Replace all existing files with old one and you will get all your bookmark, plugins instantly -

    C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

I had a hard shut down few days back as my SMPS went dead. Now... I find my system booting itself very slow after this incident. I have done defrag/virus scan/registry cleaning and even 'error-checking' on my hard disk but the problem still persists. I do not wish to reformat my hard disk and go for fresh install! :(

    Any remedies... guys?

    Regards,

    RightMan

Many reasons may occur behind it that your PC has been running slow such as insufficient memory or lack of processor power. One another reason for slow speed of your computers may be the problem in registry. Registry is one of the most important parts of the computer system and its maintenance is very necessary.

...last resort will always be to reformat. I don't get why people hate reformatting so much. Move your stuff onto an external harddrive and redo the whole thing. :/

It'll leave behind all the things you didn't need in the first place that were suffocating your computer.

First delete its cookies and check processor fan is it ok or not ? Increase Ram and check if not working proper after that then contact your hardware vendor.
