    Hello,

When I use the computer in daily and evening time it never restart automatically when I'm using, but when I go to bed in the night and I wake up in the morning I see that connection and emule has been closed, so I guess it got restarted automatically :(

What can I do? do I have to stay all the night in front of the computer and check ? Is there any problem to trace the night activity ?

    Thanks

You say that the computer restarts only when it is kept on for the whole night. This might be due to components overheating.

You can check if this is true by installing a hardware monitoring software that records the temperature. This is usually provided by motherboard manufacturers.

Also, you can check the Event Viewer to get an idea of what is causing the problem. You can access this from Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer. I take into consideration that you are using a Win XP box.

Have you opened and it cleaned it. Dust acts as an insulator and causes the cpu to overheat.

On my current computer i did that about 5 months ago as anytime the radiators were on in the house the heat in the room would cause my pc to shut off completely, i thought it was plug fuses blowing at first, i had a spare PSU so i replaced it and opened up the tower case and used a soft brush to get the dust out then i took the heatsink fan off and cleared out the dust and from the heatsink itself, there was like a blanket of that compacted grey/blue dust and fluff, it seemed to make the world of difference afterwards.

And i couldn't believe how manky i had let the tower case get inside. :)

I had this problem before and it's due to overheating. Remove the side panel and place a fan directly to it for a short term solution.

Best thing to do is, reinstall your OS. Might be a virus.

@rockinfuture - wha? I understand that faulty RAM may cause problem. But changing the RAM just cause he uses the pc for long hours?

I used to use my pc with 1gig of Transcend DDR 24x7. It would always be switched on, downloading something or the other. CPU temperatures were a cool 33C too.

So you see, a regular pc can be used for long terms too, provided the components are kept cool and dust free.

If you get a power surge at night, it could cause your pc to reboot.

I bought 2x 1gb RAMs and a week later, my PC would randomly restart. Someone advised to remove 1 RAM and start the PC just with the other. Turned out that one of the RAMs was kaput, the store where I bought it replaced it for me the second day. You can easily test this (without paying any money) by removing one RAM at a time -- if you have two or more.

Your SMPS is blown (its the power box inside your CPU where you connect the power cable and stuff), get it replaced, costs like $15.

That or one of your fans isn't working.
