My Company paypal account hacked !!

Discussion in 'PayPal' started by ecolatur, Jul 28, 2008.

It seems i was a bit careless in the last month and didn't check my paypal transactions in great detail. The result:
Today i found 12 unauthorised transactions of money sent from my account without my knowledge  and these were rather small amounts of $20 to $90 range so that one could not easily identify the trnsaction..

I just posted it here to remind all others to KEEP checking ur paypal account transactions so that you too don't get a big surprise like I did today.

I have filed a complaint to paypal regarding this. The person to those account the entire money was sent is :

I did a little FBI investigation myself lol. I did a search for pkjpande on google and yahoo and have found a website of this person. Which is http://hisw.org/
and the whois info clearly mentions this email ID: http://whois.domaintools.com/hisw.org

The address thr is no doubt a fake one. But I need suggestions on how I can deal with this case outside paypal myself. I mean how do I proceed with the investigation myself.

I need some real sherlock here in DP ....hope anybody comes out with a solution..

I was just wondering if maybe you could somehow trace his adsense details through his publisher id.

If he uses fake whois details on that site then maybe he had other sites with the same publisher id that have real whois?

Are you sure it was not just a subscription you did not cancel?? I once had what I thought was unathorized transaction but it was actually was a something I bought and they idiots slipped in a subscription so the next month I sent them more money without me knowing.

Also make sure your password is strong. I use passwords that 8-10 digits all capitals with numbers.
like this KKQD830DAW9 a password like that is very strong and cannot be hacked. A bit hard to remember but after using a it few times you'll memorize it.

Have mailed that person named Pankaj Pande. Got the following reply:
    ""
    Hello,
I m surprised to see this. But unfortunately i Don't hold any account with my this Email ID.
I have paypal but i don't own it by this Name. But surely i can help you in anything you want from my side.
    Hopefully
Keep on Updating me.Ill help you also.

    Yours Faithfully
    Ajnesh

    ""

Later I called him by the number I got from Underhost(Gr8 Work) and he said he is Pankaj Pande and he is almost unaware of the trasactions and he has mailed paypal about this. But this would be the obvious thing which anybody would have said in this situation. He says he will support me in this investigation, lol. He says he will make sure that I get my money back.

But the big question is ? What should I do next? Report this to any investgating agency in india? Bcos this might be just the tip of the iceberg ....

But I am amazed at the speed the person was tracked...Hopefully now I am lot sure that I will get my money back :) Thanks DP & Underhost :)

You don´t really think the person which was "tracked" is the person who stolen your money, do you? You think those people are such "amateurs"? Not really!!!

Check your computer for any keyloggers, if it came from your accounts or any other accounts that you own, a scan will do anygood. This is most likely a nub using a keylogger.

What you should do now is wait for the paypal checking their log about the IP address that sent out the money.
Do you use same password for email and paypal?
