My CJ strategey. Your thoughts?

So, in the midst of my adsense debacle (don't think adsense can not steal your money for no reason - that's what I thought) I decided to try CJ.

So, last week I started with quite a few ads. Now, I am slowly seeing some advertiser doing much better than other. I am taking down any ads at .5% clickthrough or less, and shooting for all of my rotating ads to have at or near 1%. This seems doable.

As I weed out the bad and increase the good, I should start to see some commissions, correct?

Any opinions on the anount of clicks needed before you see a commission.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I believe if its' targeted you'll get commissions even with a few clicks. My site makes 1 lead for every 50 clicks.

How long after the clicks until you see the lead in your reports?

it should be between 1-2 hours. But sometimes there's some delay in the reporting, if there is they will announce it.

First I never see the sale until the morning after the "posted date" of the transaction. Secondly I'm not so sure that for some publishers that isn't the day after the person has actually made the purchase. I can't tell for sure, since I didn't actually make a purchase via one of my links. But I've noticed that if I start running an ad that gets a lot of clicks one morning, that the next day there are always 0 sales reported and then the following day I might see a sale. Maybe this is just a coincidence as I've only set up ads with a high number of clicks a few times. But I also know that some companies which offer 24 hour shipping put the charge through for the credit card when they ship and if this was the case that would account for a day delay. I'd love to know how it works for sure. It's always very hard to not panic if you've paid for a 100+ clicks of advertising and see the big 0 sales made.

I think the cj reporting is very messed up - I only see the counters update maybe once a day at best. And I see acutal sales udate every few days and then I see sales that are back dated a few days as well. For example I received no updates from last friday until tuesday morning and then saw some sales reported in that batch over the last 3 days. There is no stats consistency. At least I'm not seeing it anyway.

    I agree.

The reporting from CJ is just so inconsistent.

I have not used CJ for anything to date but reading through some of these posts it doesn’t sound the best place to go to start with. I will keep a watching brief on this topic before dipping my toes in that particular pond.

Yes it's a good idea but don't totally discount the sites with fewer clicks because sometimes they don't need many to generate a sale so it's worth rotating and experimenting.

I have heard from someone who uses a few CJ aff programs that CJ updates in the evening. But isn't CJ is at the mercy of the merchan'ts reporting, which could be batch reporting, or that's where the inconsistency could be?

CJ for the most part is at the mercey of the Merchants. I have merchants who seem to update every couple of hours and merchants who do an update every 24 hours (batch). Some merchants may even update clicks everyday but wait to update sales figures for a few days untill they are sure sale goes through.

    Hi all,

Are you guys saying that the Merchants have to actively report clicks and sales to CJ ?

Is this not an automated process then ?
